Emergency funds COULD solve social care crisis – but a long-term plan is vital

The Tories have programmed emergency funding into their autumn budget, but only for use in relation to Brexit. With a gap of £1.9 billion between the money available and what is needed, social care certainly should qualify for more.
But emergency funding is not the answer, and Mr McDonnell is sure to know this.
A responsible government would concentrate on reducing the bills paid by social care providers by hammering down the costs of services and supplies, while maintaining a decent wage for people working in the sector.
But Conservatives are never likely to form a responsible government so we are left with the stop-gap measure proposed by Mr McDonnell, until such time as a responsible government comes into office.
John McDonnell is demanding that Philip Hammond finds more than £1bn from within the government’s emergency budget plan to rescue Britain’s ailing social care system.
The shadow chancellor says the money could come from the “fiscal headroom” left by the chancellor in the autumn budget. The money has been put aside in case of a financial emergency caused by Brexit, reports have claimed.
The demands are meant to increase pressure on Theresa May’s government to step in with emergency funding to protect elderly and vulnerable people.

I reluctantly support the £12bn foreign aid budget being used to avert a catastrophe in UK social care and to reverse next year’s ESA WRAG cuts. The elderly are being reared for slaughter by your government.
The Liverpool Care Pathway scandal was no accident. Euthanasia is increasingly viewed by debt-ridden, industrialized nations as a panacea to their aging and infirm populations.
The hugely generous ego boosting Overseas Budget, or covert brown envelope some would say, is the answer to our own desperate undedrfunded needs. Surely Parliament crammed full of so many patriotic intelligent subjects can see by now that this was one of their biggest mistakes and needs a robust revisit to get it sorted. There are to many expensive “management” suits crawling over this overseas dosh like vultures and that’s before it even reaches the clutches of the overseas vultures waiting their pick……leaving the intended recipients just the bare bones.
