Scottish Office uses YOUR money to ‘mislead’ us over Brexit – claim

A Tory Government social media campaign which seeks to demonstrate the UK is more important to Scotland than the EU in terms of trade exports has been attacked as misleading use of taxpayers’ money by the SNP.
Under the message: “Did you know that Scotland’s trade with the rest of the UK is worth four times more than its trade with the EU?” David Mundell’s Scotland Office posted pictures on Twitter of a small lorry marked with the EU flag carrying £11.6 billion of goods to Europe from Scotland, and a big lorry with in the Union flag carrying £48.5bn of goods to the rest of the UK.
Stephen Gethins, the SNP spokesman on Europe, said the message was false as it wrongly suggested Scotland had to choose between trading with the UK or the EU.

A large proportion of Scotlands exports goes to america, so add that to the UK exports and the eu is even less important not that they will not be able to export anyway.
The sad thing about the UK Govt. is their double counting. Goods exported from Scotland that go via an English port is counted by them for FDP purposes as English exports. Likewise if oil is transferred from Rig to Tanker ship ( much more common now ) that too is counted as English Oil/ The only way we shall ever get true figures will be when we are independent and not subjected to the lies of Mundell and Westminster
They love using your money against Scotland. Just like the fancy propaganda booklets brought out, supposedly by Better Together, during the Scottish referendum in 2014, which were produced by HM Stationary Office, and paid for by all UK taxpayers equally.
I see a more sinister reason for the Scottish Office campaign:
“That’s a nice economy you’ve got, Scotland. It’d be a shame if something were to happen to it!”
