What are we going to call the Royal Mail when the Crown owns none of it?

Last Updated: June 11, 2015By

The government has sold half of its remaining 30% stake in Royal Mail, raising another £750m for the Exchequer.

Postal workers will receive a 1% stake in the company worth about £50m, in addition to the 10% given to them when the government started its sell-off in 2013.

The remaining shares will be sold to institutional investors, such as pension funds.

The move has been criticised by Labour.

so the ones who actually USE the ROYAL mail. don’t get a look in. even 1 or 2 shares would help us offset the rises that will inevitably occur as they did before.

It will still be the Royal Mail. Specifically, the Kuwaiti Royal Mail. The symbols of our own monarchy on its stamps, postboxes and so on ought therefore to be replaced with this – http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emblem_of_Kuwait.

Then we might have some concept of what we had lost. And George Osborne’s best man might find himself among those caught up in David Cameron’s crackdown on international corruption.

Osborne should be made heritably liable, by primary legislation, for the loss to the State from the privatisation of the Royal Mail. And of RBS, come to that. That is not as far-fetched as it sounds. Any Conservative majority of less than 100 is really a hung Parliament. They hate each other that much. The present majority is a very great deal less than 100.
