NHS deficits hit £930 million within three months, under Tory control

NHS trusts in England have racked up a £930m deficit in the first three months of the financial year – that is more than the entire overspend last year.

Regulators said the problems were the “worst for a generation” and demanded immediate action be taken.

The scale of the deficits – eight in 10 trusts are in the red – also prompted warnings that care would suffer.

The accounts cover hospital, mental health, ambulance and some community services.

Between them they account for about two-thirds of the NHS’s £116bn budget – with the rest going on other areas including GPs, drug prescribing and training.

Last year, NHS trusts overspent by £822m – with the health service as a whole balancing the books only after a cash injection from the Treasury and by raiding the capital budget earmarked for buildings.

Let’s all bear in mind that these huge losses have been racked up after the Conservative-led Coalition Government forced its Health and Social Care Act 2012 into law, allowing private health companies to raid the public purse while providing cut-price services.

At the time, there was a huge controversy over the then-government’s refusal to publish a risk assessment document detailing possible serious problems facing the NHS in England if the Tories went ahead with their plan.

Was this financial disaster predicted in that document? If so, it seems only fair that the public should have been told.

Maybe the idiots who voted this shower of incompetent imbeciles will now realize what a great mistake they have made. Not one of them has held down a proper job in their lives just take for example the towel folder Osborne.

They are dismantling this country day by day, when will the nation wake up and smell the coffee. There is not one area of society not affected by their ridiculous policies.

Five more years of this we will all be doomed totally.

NHS trusts starved of resources? *Unt’s little plot is well along the path to selling the NHS to his paymasters.

I’m afraid you’re right. Isaac Hunt’s plan is to flog everything off, but just leaving the logo in a pretence that the NHS still exists. Remember Hunt’s past of deceit and corruption, too when he planned to sell off swathes of the media to Murdoch. He’s an evil beast dressed up like a smiling little pixie.

Most private companies with decent accountants would be able to tell you exactly why and what the overspend was for and how the financial short fall would/could be dealt with. If such an analysis was ever to be produced how much would be down to paying for armies of temp staff and agencies at all levels of the NHS to enable them to prop up just the very basic service levels to support the population volume increase… Several so called economic outsources that I have had the misfortune to be privvy to have also fallen foul of finding out exactly what they were contracted to perform having underpriced as usual and found out there was no fat money to be had….without of course screwing the niave procurement experts and decision makers for more dosh and slinging over optomistic kpi’s to the four winds…So that army of overpaid “managers” they paid for not long ago, to sort out the NHS, delivered diddly squat but cost them dear in redundancies and the same useless managers doing the merry go round flitting from trust to trust.

They saw what happened to the Liberal Democrats. Do they really want to share their fate?
