George Osborne’s Autumn Statement will use ”usual Tory smoke and mirrors” to cut welfare – McDonnell

Last Updated: November 22, 2015By

Chancellor George Osborne will use “smoke and mirrors” to press on with welfare cuts despite the Lords defeat over tax credits. That’s the prediction of Shadow Chancellor John McDonnell in the run-up to this week’s Autumn Statement .

He believes Iain Duncan Smith will have bullied the hapless Chancellor into finding other ways of hitting the poor.

The Work and Pensions Secretary reportedly threatened to quit if Mr Osborne made his department cover the £4bn cost of postponing cuts to tax credits by trimming his Universal Credit programme.

“He’s obviously been in a row with Iain Duncan Smith. The Quiet Man will have spoken – and won. So somehow welfare will be cut ,” said Mr McDonnell.

“We’ve looked at the figures. In terms of tax credits, the Chancellor will demonstrate he’s addressing some issues, but he’ll look for cuts elsewhere .

“It will be the usual smoke and mirrors. That’s why we’ve argued we will only support him if it’s a full and a fair reversal of policy.”

He hasn’t hit the Pensioners yet, he may believe that most Pensioners are already so frail that a cut on heating allowance will make them transfer more of their megre income towards that and simply starve to death or freeze to death thereby saving more in the very near future. Then there is the Housing Benefit, well, that was always on the cards, and so on it goes cuts , cuts cuts leaving the majority with less money to buy or spend and so we go further into the garbage as a country full of very unhappy , hungry, and mores to the point unhealthy. Which brings us back to the infirm and disabled . Soooo IDS find a way to hit them harder !! be more efficient ! At the next election we the people should hurt them the MPs all where it Hurts … (noooo not there ) in the Polling Booths. Show them that we are in charge and they are there only by the Grace of the People, the Nation of which they have sworn to serve.

Cuts. Cuts. Cuts. Anybody with an ounce of sense should be able to see that by ever reducing peoples disposable income so that many have to choose between hearing and eating, they are not spending in retail areas. We will soon hear the moaning from the big retailers about disappointing sales figures etc. Demand depends upon income. A wealthy person only needs to buy 1 washing machine,50 inch TV etc. If the majority of people had more disposable income demand would rise exponentially. It allows money to flow through the economy creating the accelerator effect. Sadly,Tories can’t see the noses on their faces

He’ll go after Welfare again, that’s all these right wing b*****ds are focused on, everything else will get cut too but mainly this, everyone is a target, sick, unemployed, volunteers, part timers, full timers, the pensioners will get hit sooner or later, just you wait, doesn’t matter who you are to the tories, you’re all a target!
