Labour supporters who didn’t vote for Corbyn don’t think he’ll be leader in 2020. So what?

Last Updated: December 20, 2015By

Here’s another pointless opinion poll result.

If anybody at The Guardian had stopped to think about it, they would have realised that “almost a third of Labour supporters” thinking Jeremy Corbyn will not be in charge of the party by 2020 is fewer than voted against him in September.

So, the real story is that Corbyn has gained support among Labour loyalists.

What a shame these newspaper editors can’t actually read the polls they’re publishing.

As for the 57 per cent of voters who don’t think Corbyn will be in charge – has anyone at The Guardian stopped to consider whether their own relentless anti-Corbyn knocking-copy journalism might have more than a little to do with this?

Or are they too busy being proud of it?

Almost a third of Labour supporters do not think that Jeremy Corbyn will lead Labour into the next general election, according to a new Opinium/Observer poll to mark the Labour leader’s first 100 days in office.

A majority of likely voters (57%) – including 30% of Labour supporters – said they did not expect Corbyn to be in charge at the 2020 election.
