‘Murderer!’ – Iain Duncan Smith confronted by furious protest as he visits Job Centre
As the person responsible for a Freedom of Information request that eventually shed light on some of the deaths that have taken place as a result of the policies of Iain Duncan Smith, the work and pensions secretary, it is pleasing to see that my work – and that of the other campaigners whose work has supported or complimented mine – has not been in vain.
The full death toll has not been published because the Department for Work and Pensions refuses to check what happens to people it has thrown off benefits, but there is enough evidence to suggest that a future Labour government should launch a full investigation.
For now, we have the spectacle of the Gentleman Ranker being forced to run from one of his own Job Centres to remind us that what we are doing really is worthwhile.
Here’s a video of it (thanks to Tony Dean for the link):
Iain Duncan Smith hid his face with a newspaper and fled a London job centre today, as furious protesters shouted “murderer” at him.
Demonstrators hurled abuse at the Work and Pensions as he visited Peckham Job Centre, after it was revealed one in ten so-called ‘fit for work’ assessments for sickness and disability benefit claimants was performed inadequately.
Mr Duncan Smith held up a copy of the Daily Mail to shield his face, as his blacked out Range Rover was blocked in the driveway of the centre by the pack of angry activists.
They shouted “scumbag” and “murderer of disabled people” through the tinted windows, as Police struggled to clear a path for the minister’s vehicle.

I expected to see an awful lot more protestors than that. Was that supposed to be just a general visit or something? Why was he actually there?
Pity the police didn’t turn a blind eye to it all or join in, nazi murderer.
It would the cause enormously, if protestors used the right kind of terminology in these situations. This one just looks ridiculous when calling IDS a ‘murderer’ and that undermines her case.
Questioning his parentage would be much more appropriate….
You think he does not, through his policies, intend to cause the deaths of the sick and disabled?
What an original viewpoint.
Instead of like this, there should be a star for ‘valuable info’…but really saddened by how callous some powerful people can be. IDS hiding behind a tabloid, how telling..
should he not be made accountable?
hiding behind the newspaper is one thing.perhaps hes a ‘ yes’ man to Cameron and cronies. Of two things you may be certain he will be moved sideways and Cameron will find a scapegoat tory MP to replace him.
This is unlikely to get media attention it deserves. Why?
the media will be focussing on David Bowie’ s death probably digging up little known facts from those given the limelight.
I’m surprised he left the safety of his office, in case something like this was to happen to him, leaving his comfort zone, for him to do this proves he’s either very arrogant or very stupid, but as we all know, he’s both, he deserved all he got and more!
Won’t see this on the news. BBC or others!
Other than the Mirror and Russia TV I can find a media mention of it anywhere.
Will not be moved by Cameron he is to scaredhe is the son of satan slimey lying toad
What a ignorant fool IDS is now we all know what paper he enjoys reading?? i think he looked pretty cowardly having his security people around him as well……
