Anguish of mum and son betrayed by Tories and left to rot by Iain Duncan Smith

Anger: Rita cannot get to IDS’ surgery [Image: Ian Vogler/Daily Mirror].

Iain Duncan Smith – isn’t he a little charmer?

The secretary of state responsible for disability benefits, and he doesn’t even have wheelchair access to his local MP surgeries.

Nor does he do home visits – unless a national newspaper contacts his office with the implied threat of deeply embarrassing media coverage.

He axed the Independent Living Fund, swearing that no disabled person would be worse off – yet the care package for Jeff Noble, the subject of this Real Britain article by Ros Wynne Jones of the Mirror, has halved.

Sorry, did I suggest Iain Duncan Smith was a little charmer?

I meant he’s a hideous reptile – and that’s being unkind to reptiles.

When her severely disabled son lost the Independent Living Fund in June, Rita Noble wrote to her local MP Iain Duncan Smith.

Her son Jeff’s care package had been cut in half following Duncan Smith’s decision to close down the Fund.

Rita, 75, explained: “His office told us he doesn’t do home visits, you need to come to his surgery.”

Her anger is palpable.

“We can’t come to his surgery, because his surgery isn’t wheelchair accessible. It’s above a shop and there is no lift, and I can hardly manage to bring Jeff anywhere as it is.

“And, because Iain Duncan Smith cut the ILF, I don’t have enough support for Jeff to leave him at home to come in on my own.

“What an absolute disgrace.”

Today, two hours after I contacted Mr Duncan Smith’s office and five months after her letter, Rita received a phone call from his assistant.

It turns out there has been a “mix up” and IDS does do home visits after all. He will be seeing her at her North East London home on Friday evening.

Just when I think I cannot possibly be any more outraged by Tory cuts on the incomes of the most vulnerable in society, along comes this article! Good grief, what has happened within the minds of folk that they are so lacking in empathy?

IDS – ‘Isn’t he a little charmer?’ I’d alter the ‘little’ to ‘big’ for a start and alter Charmer to another word beginning with ‘c’. His department is, and has been notoriously inefficient for years, now. Inefficiency, bureaucracy incompetence, cruelty and evil, yes, evil, almost always go hand in hand and are the characteristics of IDS and his department.

I take it the ‘c’ word you’d use is the one that has been applied to David Cameron by a recent Serbian drama programme.

….and possibly rhymes with the surname of the Health Secretary?

Some chaps where I worked once tried to trick me into making an announcement asking “has anyone seen Mike Hunt” – thankfully I twigged and changed it to Mr. Hunt

Another one of those mix ups when a disgusting outrage is revealed – pull the other one, it’s got bells on. IDS really is a piece of work. Time for him to be put down out of our misery. They shoot horses don’t they? They also poison rats “probably”, I can’t bring myself to cause an animals (even vermin) slow death, but I could make an exception for IDS. I don’t understand why the Tories ever allowed such incompetent liars and cheats to take up positions within the cabinet. Cameron “probably” had the Kengate tapes to blackmail the party with, but what did incompetent third rate economist Osborne and inept twerps like IDS have? They “probably” had something on Cameron and have been holding it over his head – I wonder what it is? Oh and while I think on it Mike, Reptiles include the crocodillians, who have a caring side not apparent in IDS!

There was supposed to be photographic evidence held by someone in the party concerning the “pig-gate” affair. Possibly these incompetents know where the negatives are?

Harold Shipmen was responsible for 250 + and hanged himself. Ian Duncan Smith is responsible for 10000 + deaths and is still making peoples lives a hell on earth. A truly despicable creature.

“Mix up” meaning he got caught out lying – again.
You can bet that for every one of these stories that manages to get publicity, there are a dozen more that don’t. A very large proportion of the people affected by his pogroms simply have no way of creating a fuss, and it’s too common to be “news” for long.
When he does make this home visit, they should detain him on suspicion of crimes against humanity until such time as he can be handed over into the custody (not protection, the law is clear on that) of a police constable. Indictable offences do have a power of citizens arrest associated with them.
