More than £24 billion has been taken away from disabled people – to support tax cuts for the rich who don’t need them?
This infographic is now out-of-date because the Tories are targeting even more cuts on the most disabled people.
Debbie Abrahams MP, Labour’s Shadow Minister for Disabled People, commenting on the government’s announcement to reform the Personal Independence Payment system by cutting an additional £1.2 billion of support from the system, said:
“Just a week after forcing through cuts to support that will take over £1,500 a year from disabled people, the Tories have today snuck out a proposal to take away a further £1.2 billion, by removing support from people who are not able to manage toilet needs or dress unaided. This will mean that over 600,000 disabled people are set to lose almost £2,000 a year.
“In coming to this decision, the Tories are yet again ignoring the views of disabled people, carers and experts in the field, trying to press ahead with changes, just two years since the introduction of the system. While their own proposals admit that the vast majority of respondents did not think the case for change had been made.
“Labour rejected entirely the principles underlying the consultation, all of the proposed ‘options’ impact harmfully on disabled people and removing support for people who need help to use the toilet or dress is an attack on dignity.
“Tory cuts have already taken over £24 billion in support from disabled people, these further cuts would represent another huge blow making life even more difficult for many people who already facing huge barriers.”

it looks like IDS wont’s to commit homicide on the vulnerable by taking away their lifeline benefits so that they will starve/freeze to death or commit suicide
it will depend on how the public reacts to the deaths. up until now the public overall that’s the vast majority don’t even know about the deaths that have already happened to the sick and disabled in going through welfare reform
it will depend on what road IDS goes down hopefully he will go down a muddy road but that will be unlikely unless the public pull together in a way that’s more cohesive
Yes this is yet another vicious attack on the sick and disabled by this nasty ideologically driven government who are only interested in big business and the well heeled. They have no scruples, no humanity and are totally bereft of any empathy for anyone.

be prepared to lose and pay their care from any tax gains you made.
Will the rich ever be rich enough? How much poorer can the poor be?
And, why as the people of this country who pay their wages, can’t do anything to stop the destruction that they force onto everyone who are not in their “class”?
When the Tories claim they’re making the cuts to help them target the most in need… they don’t mean the disabled… they’re thinking of themselves, they think themselves to be those most in need…

Yes, but research should be done, on how much has been spent on the disabled in enforced private residential provision.
The LA budgets to stay in their own home, or with family, has been cut to the bone, so the LA can use the court of protection, and the mental capacity act to enforce all care and decisions in private, increasingly venture capital provision for life, at an average of £3500 per week.

How much more can these lot in Government squeeze from the poor and disabled!! something needs to be done to stop these over privileged trough feeders…when will Osborne start taxing his rich chums!!!
