MP critically injured after shooting and stabbing attack

This is unheard-of in the UK.
The Daily Mirror tells us: “Police have arrested a 52-year-old man after MP Jo Cox was shot in the face by an attacker shouting ‘Britain First’.”
I’m told the main ‘Remain’ and ‘Leave’ organisations have suspended their European Referendum campaign in the light of this incident.
Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn has tweeted: “Utterly shocked by the news of the attack on Jo Cox. The thoughts of the whole Labour Party are with her and her family at this time.” Vox Political echoes that sentiment.
Unconfirmed reports suggest Jo Cox, Labour MP for Batley and Spen, was shot and stabbed. A man also suffered slight injuries.
A 52-year-old man was arrested near Market Street, Birstall, West Yorkshire Police said.

Eyewitness Hithem Ben Abdallah, 56, was in a cafe next door to the library shortly after 1pm when he heard screaming and went outside.
“There was a guy who was being very brave and another guy with a white baseball cap who he was trying to control and the man in the baseball cap suddenly pulled a gun from his bag”.
After a brief scuffle, he said the man stepped back and the MP became involved.
Mr Abdallah said the weapon had “looked handmade” and a man who had been wrestling with the gunman continued even after seeing the gun.
He said: “The man stepped back with the gun and fired it and then he fired a second shot, as he was firing he was looking down at the ground.”

Personally I am not shocked or surprised at all. (Sorry folks but I just am not.)
Appalled, utterly appalled, but not totally surprised. The xenophobic hatred which has built up in this country lately is extremely disturbing and worrying. My thoughts are with Jo Cox.
Here we go, what have you Political imbeciles done to our Country? you scum will not stop until we are completely another damn Middle East mess. Never mind ‘Remain’ run for your lives from all political idiots.
I’m sitting here watching the news that Jo has died and people like John Gaines are making hateful and intemperate comments like this. He should be absolutely ashamed of himself.
The murderer is white British and seems to share your views Mr Gaines. It is these hateful and hate filled, inward looking little Englanders that are the real problem. They have no positive role to play they can only hate and attack what they fear or don’t understand. You are beneath contempt.
Bearing in mind very recent news of her death, it’s a shame that the EU vote cannot be suspended (assuming that it’s related, which it seems to be)?
The MP has since died and I heard that the killer shouted “Britain First” as he committed the murder.
I know who I consider responsible for the racial hatred (and other discriminations of the last few years). I hope they can live with themselves. Nobody’s family should have to be destroyed like this over petty disagreements blown out of all proportion and I feel for Jo Cox’s husband and kids. I just hope that the Remain camp (although that is my side) don’t attempt to make political points over her death.

Sad that it has finally happened, but not in the least bit surprised. Been saying for a few years now that the way our so-called “civilisation” is being run, it would come to a point where bullets would replace ballots. RIP Ms Cox.
