#EUref: Parisians launch ‘Operation Croissant’ to get us to #Remain
French people have sent dozens of handwritten messages across the Channel, trying to dissuade people from voting Brexit.
The postcards, given out to people at King’s Cross, were meant to be accompanied with a freshly baked croissant but our election rules ban anyone giving out food which could ‘corrupt’ voting intentions.
In their own words, this is what Operation Croissant is all about:
“On the day before the referendum – Wednesday June 22 – we have decided to set off from Paris with hundreds of freshly-baked croissants and give them to passers-by at Kings Cross St Pancras as they start their day.
Along with the croissant, they’ll also be given a postcard with a short note from a Parisian. It might be a personal story about why they feel close to Britain. It might just say hello.”They had to donate all the food to a homeless shelter instead.
