Is this Cameron’s last lie?

Before the referendum result, David Cameron said he would invoke Article 50 immediately, if the UK voted to leave.
The UK has voted to leave, and Cameron has opted to quit instead. None of his likely successors have any intention of invoking the Article, which would require the EU to be shot of us within two years, in the foreseeable future.
Of course it isn’t his last lie – he won’t be replaced until September or October, and those months are still a long way away.
But, even on his way out the door, you can’t trust Cameron.
For all the drama the moment would bring, there would be no instant change. European Union citizens could still come to Britain to live and work without a visa. Trade with the single market would continue unimpeded. Brussels would continue to regulate bananas.
Instead, the process of decoupling would officially begin only when the British government chooses to invoke a previously unused provision of the bloc’s governing treaty, known as Article 50, that sets out the basics of the withdrawal process.
The most critical element of Article 50 is that, once invoked, it sets a two-year deadline for a negotiated departure. Beyond that, no one really knows how the process would work, since no country has ever left the European Union.
Moreover, it is up to the British government when to invoke Article 50, and it is not entirely clear whether Prime Minister David Cameron, who has led the campaign to stay, would stick to his stated plan to invoke it immediately if the country votes to leave.

Possibly his last major lie as Prime Minister, but as he is basically a dishonest individual I dare say he will lie about his motives and his toxic legacy he has lumbered the nation with.
i think Boris Johnson will take over and a general election called at some point. as for the labour leader he will have to stand down and a suitable replacement sort so that the public get some transparency back into politics so they can vote for labour
this brexit win however will give a huge boost to ukip and if Donald trump becomes president you could well find that ukip will form the next goverment
If they do not then democracy is dead!
Depends whether the puppet masters are happy with Brexit or not. Did they foresee it happening? Is their booty safe? Reversing the outcome of a Referendum vote by using a Clause in the hated EU constitution would surely invoke tremendous anger. Would any politician be brave enough to do it?

I would not believe lying toad Cameron if he said night follows day, nor any of his sidekicks. As far as decoupling is concerned, the Tory parasites will be waiting in the wings with British experience of article 50 and sell their services to the queue of other nations following suit.
This is not about the country its all about money
Isn’t it true that this referendum is NOT legally-binding on the government, so they could, if they so chose, decide to ignore it, stay in the EU and carry on as though nothing had happened?
If so, perhaps a ‘delay’ is intended, so that things will quieten down and everyone forgets they ever voted for something as they get re-absorbed into the Britain’s Got Talent mix of bland mind-numbing brainwashing.
But I *am* always highly cynical when it comes to trusting any tory!
“Brussels would continue to regulate bananas.” If that were the case, they were not doing a particularly good job. Every week, millions of curved bananas are sold from Morrison’s, Sainsbury’s and Tesco’s all around the country.
The British government always did retain the right of veto and invoked it on many occasions – successfully. Was Farage and the Brexit Bunch saying otherwise? What? Yet another lie?
The title of this page made me think that the promise of a referendum is probably one of the very few promises that Cameron kept while he has been PM – and probably the only one which he really should have broken?
I guess with his and his mates appalling record of lying to the electorate nothing would surprise me of what the Cons next cunning plan will look like.
if Boris becomes the PM IDS will get the welfare position I’m sure
god help the poor and disabled if IDS gets in the driving seat again
with no fear of Euro interference these and other weak groups will be at the mercy of the money grabbers …. big time.
