All sides in the Labour leadership debate should condemn this comment
No doubt most of the world now knows there was a horrific terror attack in Nice last night (July 14), in which more than 80 people were killed.
It was a shocking loss of life, believed to be a terrorist attack, and This Writer is sure we would all join to condemn the perpetrators.
Also to be condemned is the tweet pictured above, by Frances Barber. Is this the TV actress? If so, somebody should have a word with her about her opinions and messages.
Mr Corbyn’s refusal to betray the membership of the Labour Party by vacating his post is a principled stand against elements that are trying to corrupt the Labour Party.
Attempting to connect that to terrorism is not only unfair but is, in the opinion of This Writer, base – lacking in moral principles or rules.
I notice that Ms Barber has blocked me – and, no doubt, many others – from her Twitter feed following this outrageous outburst.
I think she may find herself blocked, in many other ways, in the future.
At least 84 people have died, including children, after a lorry slammed through a crowd celebrating Bastille Day in the southern French city of Nice.
The driver ploughed on for 2km (1.2 miles) on the Promenade des Anglais at about 23:00 local time, before being shot dead by police.
Witnesses say the speeding lorry swerved and zigzagged in an apparent attempt to hit more people.
Police reportedly found guns and grenades inside the lorry.

I have no idea who this nonentity is, other than she is a total eejit. Even if her comment wasn’t in the worst possible taste, what on earth does she expect members of a UK shadow cabinet to do about French terrorism?

Hard to determine any logic in Ms Barbers comment. Teresa May is PM and quite rightly the COBRA Committee is deciding how best the UK can assist the French. She must have been high on something to suggest that somehow Jeremy Corbyn was an obstacle to that being done. It is simply unbelievable how people can continually blame him for everything which goes wrong in the world. We are told that ISIS supporters have been radicalised to hate with such intensity. Seems as if some unknown person/s are doing the same to anti-Corbyn supporters.
In the week after the publication of the Chilcott Report, it is a bit ironic to blame somebody who,in any event, is powerless to influence the response of the authorities in France to this most terrible incident, and also who was very prominent in his opposition to the original Western act that provoked the past decade’s ongoing outbreak of terrorist attacks. In his address to the 2 million march, Jeremy Corbyn was clear in his prediction that such terror would be one of the consequences of that monumental error of judgement. Who is she, anyway? Just another representative of an age overpopulated with ” personalities” with no personality, and “celebrities” with nowt much worth celebrating.
To use this sad incident with so much loss of life to gain political points, at best shows her total lack of real empathy with the victims and worst – she is an unthinking, unfeeling opportunistic cretin. No doubt she will claim temporary insanity or having a “senior moment” or other pathetic excuse.
I actually saw this comment on twitter, and very nearly responded to it myself. Someone else DID respond to it, but I can’t remember what their response was.
A bit like the idiot woman Ranvir Singh accusing Nigel Farage of being responsible for the deaths , because of using for Brexit.
