British expats in French town bring legal challenge to Brexit
A group of British expats living in the French town of Lauzun is bringing a legal challenge to Brexit, pushing for the UK parliament to have a vote on the triggering of Article 50.
At the moment, the prime minister can start the two-year process of leaving the EU herself, through something called the Royal Prerogative.
But lawyers believe that parliament needs to have a say before this process is begun.
Speaking to ITV News exclusively, the group called Fair Deal for Expats, believe that if Theresa May is forced to consult parliament before article 50 goes ahead, they have a greater chance of shaping the circumstances in which they continue living abroad.
The expats are one of six groups bringing a legal challenge to Brexit that will be heard at the High Court in October. The groups have decided they will band together to bring the same action, but will all make slightly different legal cases within it.
The joint action centres on the belief that parliament must have a say rather than Brexit being decided purely by the prime minister’s use of the Royal Prerogative.

The 16 million who voted to remain perhaps have a human rights’ case that their status as European citizens is to be removed against their will.
16 million did not vote for remain. I was forced to be regarded as a european citizen against my will.
There certainly should be a proper informed debate and not just blatant lies and totally meaningless slogans.
Indeed the remain camp just used project fear lies and propaganda and still lost.
Brexit hasn’t even started and look at the mess it’s doing!
