Hinkley is another chance for Theresa May to show off her weakness

Not only should the UK be concentrating on clean energy, rather than a dirty nuclear reactor, but this generator won’t even be British.
It will be built by the French company EDF, with funding from the Chinese government.
That’s what happens when you privatise your country’s assets, of course: Foreign organisations get to profit.
When Theresa May gets around a table with the businesses involved, she’ll do what she always does, which is give them anything they want.
That’s what she did over the so-called strategy to fight child obesity; that’s what she’ll do here.
She is pathetically weak and big business owns her.
Theresa May could face a diplomatic row with China at the G20 summit as she arrives for her first meeting with Xi Jinping, without having approved Beijing’s involvement in UK nuclear projects.
The prime minister is set to meet the Chinese president on Monday after the summit in Hangzhou, where she will also have a press conference with the US president, Barack Obama, and hold a meeting with the Russian president, Vladmir Putin, on Sunday.
It is May’s biggest outing to date on the world stage, but her visit threatens to be overshadowed by the lack of a decision on whether to proceed with the proposed Hinkley Point C nuclear power station in Somerset, apparently caused by security concerns over Chinese involvement in Britain’s nuclear industry. She is travelling to China on Saturday.

So many more jobs could be generated in clean energy production like the Colwyn Bay projects which would actually help the exchequer and Britain. But noooo, let’s just sell our energy freedom and our own self interests to foreign powers and backers, because then, only the rich will benefit.
So what’s new?
Hopefully someone with some common sense might get involved who does not have international agendas. Also there is still time to look at cheaper and better ideas and developments just personally feel the country is being led down the road without proper due diligence. I feel another white elephant is being let loose that has no ending and a budget which will be unaudited uncontrolled overspends worse than the EU unaudited accounts. …..the punters will eventually have to pay for this decision ….not politicians..
While watching Mrs May being interviewed just before she jetted-off to China to lay down the law I couldn’t help thinking that she sounded like someone whose nerves are stretched tighter than the strings on a piano.
I wondered whether this is because she has realised that she has picked up a poisoned chalice left behind by the appalling Cameron/Osborne duo. Also playing on her mind will surely be how she will explain her thinking if she caves in to the Chinese and ditches her supposed resistance to Hinckley C.
Does she really need more opportunities to show off her weakness? She’s done pretty well already.
