New evidence Labour leadership contest is being rigged, as Corbyn confirms investigation
Still, this report provides an excuse to reveal that the Labour ‘party machine’ (in reality committees composed of NEC members) has been disqualifying members of the basis of comments retweeted on Twitter, regardless of whether the member approves of them or not.
It has long been established that RTing a tweet does not imply any kind of endorsement, and some members of the Twitter community reinforce that claim with personalised disclaimers.
But that didn’t stop Labour from disqualifying Philip Lewis on the basis of three tweets that he didn’t write.
Mr Lewis commented: “Today I received the tweets reason why I’m suspended and no not my acc.mine @philewis and my cat @philewis_lenin”
Here are the tweets. As you can see, they are not written by Mr Lewis:
What next?
Jeremy Corbyn has revealed he is investigating allegations that Labour’s leadership contest is being rigged against him after a number of his supporters received letters barring them from taking part.
In an interview with the Guardian, the Labour leader said he hoped party officials were not working against him but could not rule out the possibility.
“I’m surprised at the numbers of people who’ve been denied a vote and I’m surprised at the lack of reason that’s been given to people,” he said, in his strongest intervention on the subject so far.
“I’m concerned about that because surely in a democratic process everyone should be entitled to vote unless there is some very good reason against them.”

What the hell has our country coming to? The truth will out and then they should be marched into prison.
JC need to show that it is rigged! Do long as this continues the PLP is being harmed! All involved should be expelled ASAP!
How are they any different from the Tories then? Certainly if there is proof then the police should be brought in. No ifs no buts.
What it does mean tho is another election because this one can’t be trusted.
The NEC should stand down till this investigation is over
The NEC is being replaced by new board members in September, all of whom, are JC supporters…
No, they’re not. The NEC consists of something like 32 members. Only six are to be replaced by members of the Centre Left Grassroots Alliance. Labour councillors voted for their representatives at the same time and two people who don’t support Jeremy Corbyn were voted in. The overall increase in support for Mr Corbyn is something like one member.
New Labour = old Tory, but under a different banner.
The Graun is asking for people banned. http://www.theguardian.com/politics/2016/sep/06/are-you-a-labour-member-barred-from-voting-in-the-leadership-election This/his would an excellent response as he knows what got him banned.
Its no wonder they didn’t put the information into the original banning letters as had they done so, the stupidity of some of them would have immediately been apparent.
That was his strongest intervention?! My god. He needs to get up off the floor and start to show some leadership. This is the “Labour Party” doing this… and he is the leader!
Have a sense of reality, please.
He is the incumbent, defending his position in a leadership election, and the claims that the contest is being rigged may directly affect its result.
If he reacts too strongly, his detractors will say he is the one trying to rig the election.
