Another Labour MP tries to subvert party democracy to stop herself being deselected

It will be very hard for Louise Ellman to make her complaint against her own Constituency Labour Party stick.

Sure, Angela Eagle was successful in having her Wallasey Constituency Labour Party suspended over allegations of intimidation and homophobic language.

But look at the reaction: It was very quickly revealed that there was no weight to the allegations and she had done it to prevent the CLP holding a meeting at which she was to be deselected, meaning she would no longer be eligible to stand for election as the constituency’s MP in the future.

In short, Ms Eagle betrayed Labour Party democracy for the sake of her career and it is impossible to view Ms Ellman’s action in any other way.

She alleges anti-Semitism by members of Momentum; this is now a fixture of the narrative against the Corbyn-supporting organisation within the Labour Party. None of the claims have yet been proven true (for example Vicky Kirby, who was suspended from the party twice over – justified – anti-Semitism claims, was not a member of Momentum).

Ms Ellman herself wouldn’t be Jewish, by any chance? I don’t know this, so let’s look it up… Yes she is, according to Wikipedia, anyway.

The allegation refers to a CLP meeting in April. Why has she waited so long to make her demand? It seems it can only be because of the claim last week that Momentum activists want to deselect her.

So, again, we have a sitting MP – who, incidentally, opposes Jeremy Corbyn – acting in the interests of her own career rather than that of the political party she claims to represent.

Her claim that Momentum was trying to “take over party structures” is risible. As Momentum consists of Labour Party members, its structures are also their structures. Therefore there is no need for them to attempt any kind of takeover.

If she means Momentum members were taking over officer positions in her CLP – it is their democratic right to stand for these positions if they choose to do so, and Ms Ellman has no right to try to prevent that.

So now it seems she is trying to undermine local democracy in not one, but two distinct ways. What a charmer she turned out to be.

I don’t believe a word of her claims and nor should you.

Liverpool Riverside MP Louise Ellman has called for her own constituency party to be suspended so an investigation can be launched into allegations of “entryism” and anti-Semitism.

A complaint was made to party bosses after a Riverside Labour party meeting in April at which anti-Semitic remarks were allegedly made.

And last week an internal party investigation claimed far-left activists from Momentum had been trying to take control of the Riverside party to deselect local MP Ms Ellman.

The allegations have been strongly denied by Momentum, the left-wing group borne out of Jeremy Corbyn’s successful campaign for the party leadership last year.

Ms Ellman said: “I was appalled to read of the extent of Momentum activity within Liverpool Riverside CLP. There is clearly evidence of an organised attempt by this group to take over Labour Party structures.”

It has become the norm for Anti Corbyn MPs to throw smears and accusations at their CLPs, Angela Eagle lied about the CLP meeting she did not attend, she actually insulted the intelligence of her CLP, It will have to come to CLPs protecting themselves from their own MPs by Videoing their meetings.
Regarding Ellman she is not a very warm woman but hey who wants that in an MP, she has a job to do but in my opinion she has not been with her CLP she has now lied about them and she is like every other employed person responsible to those who hire her, they are entitled to democratically decide to change to another candidate if there is enough conflict of interest going on.

Just another “chicken coupe” Blairite Labour MP trying to undermine the democratic process of Labour Party Members, many of whom dislike Ms Elleman’s unbridled support of Isreali policy in Palestine.
