Left-wing Labour conference delegate is barred from entry – for ‘national security’ reasons?
Do you think this is innocent?
A constituency Labour party (CLP) delegate has been refused entry to the Labour conference today, but was denied a reason on grounds of “national security”.
Jody Scott, the delegate from Hull North, arrived at the conference services desk with his birth certificate, but was told his identity could not be verified because he did not have photo ID, despite having uploaded his photograph during registration.
Scott told Novara Media that having waited in the foyer for over ten minutes, he returned to the desk to be told by a Labour staff member that he was being refused entry. When Scott questioned the decision, he was taken to a back room by an officer from Greater Manchester police, who told him his application was only received two days ago. Scott says he sent in his information over a month ago.
The officer then told Scott he had failed a background check. When he asked why, Scott alleges the officer replied: “I can’t reveal that because of national security.”
Puzzled? This might offer an explanation:
Hull has been at the centre of a dramatic left shift in the Labour grassroots, despite all three Hull MPs opposing Corbyn’s leadership. Earlier this summer, when the Hull North MP Diane Johnson resigned as shadow foreign and commonwealth minister to join Corbyn’s critics in the parliamentary Labour party, some CLP activists were said to be “furious”and weighing up whether to take a vote of no confidence in her.
It seems forces within the Labour Party are still working hard to deny supporters of Jeremy Corbyn a voice. How can any vote taken at this conference be valid if delegates are denied their democratic right on such suspicious grounds?

This has got to be an illegal attack against freedom of rights, free speech and political class. Jeremy Corbyn wants the centrists and left wingers to “unite” with a dictatorship?
If Corbyn chooses to dictate to the membership the same way Blair did, he will inevitably lose much of the support he has gained. The right wingers will not give ground except with daggers hidden behind their backs with which to stab you when you pass.
A pity Jody Scott didn’t call the plod’s bluff and try walking in anyway.
there be no piece has long has the blairites stay
Playing evil mind games. Rocking the Boat seems to be their cause celebre rather than do what the Labour Exec is supposed to be doing. When(if?) JC culls their power no doubt they will cry ‘foul’ and run to the MSM for support. Lunatic strategy.
Unfortunately a birth certificate is no longer a viable form of identification, because it is to easy to quire them even if it is not your own. I have no problem with requiring photo identity. There does seem to be a problem with either the online registration or some other reasons to prevent entry though.
A birth certificate is a perfectly valid form of ID if a disabled person wants a disability badge, though.
This is sick the sooner we get rid of this Blairit rubbish the better heads should roll for this its an attack on Democracy they must have been very afraid of what he had to say
” he was taken to a back room by an officer from Greater Manchester police, who told him his application was only received two days ago.” Why GMP? The conference is taking place in Liverpool, only a few hundred yards from the headquarters of MERSEYSIDE Police in Liverpool One. OCS provides security for the conference so are GMP poaching?
