Sick joke: Anti-feminist Tory Philip Davies is now on Parliament’s Women and Equalities committee

Philip Davies: ‘Feminist zealots want women to have their cake and eat it’

Does anyone – at all – need any further evidence of the contempt in which the Conservative Government holds the people of the United Kingdom?

Philip Davies’s idea of gender equality is to send more women to prison.

Once there, he would enthusiastically deprive them of any opportunity for improvement by taking away any books they might be sent – because they may contain “secret codes”.

But they can have access to Sky TV if they are sent to a private prison, according to information obtained by Mr Davies. From this, may we conclude that he is a fan of prison privatisation and Rupert Murdoch?

And his ideas about sex education have to be seen to be believed.

Most damning of all, he spoke at a conference on “men’s issues”, organised by the Justice for Men and Boys Party (yes, a separate political organisation from the Conservatives), condemning “feminist zealots” who “really do want women to have their cake and eat it”.

This Writer challenged Theresa May about this, asking whether she had the strength to punish him for this – let’s call it – severe lapse of judgement or was simply too weak to control her own backbenchers.

Now we know the answer: She is too weak.

And it seems women will have to suffer his attentions as a result.

The accession of this man – unopposed – to the Commons Women and Equalities Committee can only be seen as a sick practical joke by the Conservative Government.

An outspoken Conservative critic of feminism has been elected to the Parliamentary committee in charge of holding the Government to account on equalities and women’s issues.

Philip Davies was elected unopposed to fill a Conservative spot on the Commons Women and Equalities Committee that was vacated after another member joined the Government.

The MP for Shipley said in August that “feminist zealots” were “stirring up” problems and that a number of women wanted equality but “only when it suits”.

I guess she chose, like that Hunt for the NHS, nodding dogs to take the heat off her, make sure only good news filters through as they sure as hell both Con men will lie through their teeth to protect the Cons from any bad publicity. From her point of view he was the best choice.

How can you have a women and equalities commission? by definition that is one sided and opposes males, just like so many other alleged positive discrimination regulations do because instead of just looking for the best person for the job you have to look at the balance and could be rejecting the best person in favour of someone to fit the equities regulations.

One wonders where these “people” get their ideas from, and then believe that they are speaking to the people who voted for them.

If I recall correctly, wasn’t Maggie Thatcher anti women? And now we have Maggie May carrying on her tradition! Does the female electorate really believe they are in with a chance of equality in any of May’s policies?

“Women have been hit hardest by the cuts. More than 80% of cuts fall disproportionately on women. As the Women’s Budget Group has pointed out, all the cuts mean that opportunities for women are systematically reduced and diminished in our society.” Jeremy Corbyn
