Alleged ‘Conservative’ Twitter account suspended over offensive tweets
The ‘Lincs Conservatives’ Twitter account that posted a series of tweets including claims that poor people were “dangerous” and spent their money on “drugs, alcohol and gambling” has been suspended.
It seems members of the Conservative group on Lincolnshire County Council reported the account, and it was taken down.
One wonders whether there is, or has been, an account for all Conservatives in the county, though.
It would be interesting to see if this case is pursued, to find out who was behind it and what their intention was. Knowing the Conservatives, though, they’ll probably just leave it hanging. Could it be less embarrassing for them this way?
A Twitter account claiming to be from the Lincolnshire Conservatives has been suspended after complaints were made about some of its tweets which said poor people were “dangerous” and food bank users had “no cooking skills”.
The tweets posted overnight on June 2 originate from an account purporting to be the official Twitter account for Lincolnshire Conservatives, with a location tag in Grantham.
Richard Davies, Conservative county councillor for Grantham North West, told Lincolnshire Reporter: “It’s a fake account.
“We’ve reported it to Twitter for impersonating us and they’ve taken it down.
“Our account is @LincsTories.”

From Google’s cache, the “fake” account was created in March 2016 and had 2393 followers, more than the official LincsTories account. So it took them a while to notice.
That’s very interesting, Ros.
Perhaps you could post a link?
That’s all right then…. all sorted. Just the imminent arrest of the Cons prospective MP from Thanet and two other Con fall guys who will be prosecuted for electoral issues. I am sure that will be cleared up equally as well. Not sure the parliamentarg candidate will do the honourable thing and immediately stand down or resign waiting to hear. That will teach them to throw everything at Farage campaign just to get him from winning the seat…..so much so even they could not hide the dirt under the carpet. Watch this space there are Cons and cheats loose.
Absolutely amazing lack of knowledge and pure ignorance.
“Richard Davies, Conservative county councillor for Grantham North West, told Lincolnshire Reporter: “It’s a fake account.” He then goes further and advertises the real account for all and sundry to copy and post even more fake material but this time using the actual account name.
D**k head comes to mind.
Good grief, Telford and Lincs, the Tories really let rip on the poor – don’t they?
