Life imitates ‘fake’ as more Tory candidates go into meltdown and accuse the poor
Mark Pritchard: Should he be put up against a wall?
The list is growing longer by the hour.
Already we have had the scandal of Peter Cuthbertson’s opinions on rape – and the scandal of Theresa May’s defence of him. Craig Mackinlay is being charged with offences in relation to his expenses in the 2015 general election.
There was a moment when we believed a Tory Twitter feed claiming to be for Lincolnshire was insulting the poor as dangerous junkies who spend all their money (what money?) on drugs, alcohol and gambling – only to have that story pulled out from under us with a claim that it was fake.
Well, now we have more evidence that Conservatives – and especially Conservative Parliamentary candidates – really do feel that way because Mark Pritchard, Tory candidate for the Wrekin in Shropshire, walked out of a hustings after causing outrage with comments about food bank users owning 58-inch TVs.
Here’s the Daily Mirror‘s version of events:
Locals said the Wrekin MP had made inflammatory comments about people using food banks having ’58 inch TVs’ and ‘smoking £10 packs of cigarettes’, which sparked fury from the room.
Mr Pritchard was filmed berating his constituents, telling them “some of you have let yourselves down tonight”, which prompted the audience to slow clap him until he left.
According to several people who attended the debate, hosted by Telford Trades Union Congress, Mr Pritchard was answering a question on Tory cuts to disability benefits from a member of the audience when he made the comments.

And ‘Loathsome’ Lucy Allan, Tory MP for Telford, did not attend the hustings on Thursday evening (June 1), claiming she had not been invited. This was very quickly revealed to be a lie:

The problem is the press who keep making excuses for them. Also the problem with idiots, in the labour party who will not accept a return to traditional values
When tories talk about disabled/poor people having large tvs, they have no idea what’s it’s like being poor and in need! I think he’s been watching benefit Britain or some other propaganda programme on the telly.
Tories seem to be taking a lead from Mrs May’s non-appearance before the public. Both Ian Liddell-Grainger and Rebecca Pow have refused to attend hustings in Somerset where the other candidates will be present. This is shameful behaviour reminiscent of arrogant 18th century MPs from those who pretend to represent us. Don’t vote for any of them!

All this emotional finger pointing, blaming and outright propaganda is just a projection of their own faults and life styles.
Seems like a few people in the Tory party are getting twitchy about there own future.

Nor can I Jeffrey. There are so many people who, against their own interests, still vote Tory. Over the years I have come to the conclusion that a lifetime of right-wing propaganda has worked on them.
Tories begrudge the poor and the disabled any amenity which even in a small way alleviates some of the every day hardships and problems that they have to endure. Many Tories really do believe in the return of the 19th century Workhouse, but I believe their Workhouses would be far more nasty, vindictive and cruel than anything the 19th century Poor Law ever inflicted on the poor and the less fortunate in society.
