Report that could link UK to terror funders ‘may never be published’
The day after another terror attack hit British people, the Home Office revealed that it may never publish a report into the funding and support of jihadi groups. Apparently the contents are “very sensitive” – which seems to mean they concern the UK’s own relationship with Saudi Arabia under the Conservative governments of David Cameron and Theresa May.
Here’s The Guardian:
The Home Office’s extremism analysis unit had been directed by Downing Street to investigate overseas funding of extremist groups in the UK, with findings to be shown to Theresa May, then home secretary, and Cameron.
However, 18 months later, the Home Office confirmed the report had not yet been completed and said it would not necessarily be published, calling the contents “very sensitive”.
Tom Brake, the Lib Dem foreign affairs spokesman, has written to the prime minister asking her to confirm that the investigation will not be shelved.
In his letter to May, Brake wrote: “As home secretary at the time, your department was one of those leading on the report. Eighteen months later, and following two horrific terrorist attacks by British-born citizens, that report still remains incomplete and unpublished.
“It is no secret that Saudi Arabia in particular provides funding to hundreds of mosques in the UK, espousing a very hardline Wahhabist interpretation of Islam. It is often in these institutions that British extremism takes root.”
The contents of the report may prove politically as well as legally sensitive. Saudi Arabia, which has been a funding source for fundamentalist Islamist preachers and mosques, was visited by May earlier this year.
It’s worse than that, though.
The United Kingdom has been providing weapons to Saudi Arabia. What has that country been doing with them?
Users of Twitter have, of course, gone straight to the heart of the matter:
We need to know what is the link between Saudi and the funding of worldwide jihadism
In the meanwhile we should stop selling arms to Saudi— Tom London (@TomLondon6) June 4, 2017
Look at this response to a typically Boris Johnson anti-Labour outburst, trying to gain political mileage from the atrocities in London:
Very very very clear – Corbyn will never protect us against our enemies.

Mr Johnson
Words almost fail me
It's the Tories who have been in power for the last 7 years

And Theresa May has come under fire for her fake bravado in response to a terror attack that she may have unwittingly funded.
After chairing a COBRA meeting this morning, Mrs May posted on Facebook:
In light of what we are learning about the changing threat, we need to review Britain’s counter-terrorism strategy to make sure the police and security services have all the powers they need.
And if we need to increase the length of custodial sentences for terrorism-related offences, even apparently less serious offences, that is what we will do.
Check out the responses:
Mrs May
How will prospect of longer prison sentences deter jihadists intent on suicide?
What about addressing Saudi funding?

I agree with you @theresa_may – We are far too tolerant of extremism in Britain. pic.twitter.com/zu5rfjLO9I

How long do we have to put up with the constant doubletalk from Tories who preach intolerance of terrorism to us and then do business with those who support the terrorists?

the conservatives have always had a strong bond with Saudi which has always proved to be a disaster as they don’t have human rights
with trump now making them to be the peace keepers in the middle east when they themselves have never in their history had peace begs the question as to why ?
to be a peace keeper you need the rest of the middle east to agree to that and that with regret has not been agreed by the rest of the countries in the middle east
corbyn of labour is much better with his understanding of this with his degree of detachment as he has shown with his comments about trump in that we have a close relationship but it can only be based on an understanding between both countries and not just the usa in isolation
doing a arms deal with Saudi is madness but that’s the conservative way both in the uk and usa
Probably only sensitive to Tory politicians. The public have a right to see the report and to draw their own conclusions.
I guess for sensitive report read globalist agenda and greed. And the Cons accuse JC for political undercover leanings……
Sensitive my arse it would show up this government how it delt in arms how they used them and allowing a few through so they can tighten more control over us thuss when we shout out they can lock us up under their terrorist laws how quaint
Teresa May wants longer prison sentences for suicide bombers ?!…..
