Theresa May was not at the Dispatch Box for Prime Minister’s Questions on July 12. She was bunking off to take part in the royal visit by King Filipe VI of Spain.

Her place was taken by Damian Green, meaning Emily Thornberry would deputise for Jeremy Corbyn (also at the royal visit).

And what a great job Ms Thornberry did! Undoubtedly there are already many articles about the way she walked all over the Tories – even managing to make them laugh at their own inadequacy.

Meanwhile, what about Mr Corbyn and Mrs May? Were they enjoying a lively debate at the royal visit?

Er… no.

It seems that, beyond PMQs, they have nothing to say to each other.
