Government welfare reforms and cuts in financial support for poor working families is putting the UK in breach of its United Nations (UN) obligations, says the Children’s Commissioner, according to Welfare Weekly.
In a damning new report to be published ahead of George Osborne’s autumn statement, Dr Maggie Atkinson says government measures to reduce the deficit have disproportionately hurt children from poor families.
Single parents and poor families have been hit the hardest by government spending cuts, with incomes falling by an average of 10% since the coalition took office in 2010.
Rising inequality means the UK has failed in its duty to protect poor children from the worst of austerity, meaning the government could now be in violation of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.
The Treasury dismissed the report as “misleading” and “selective”.

“Misleading” and “selective” as they would, do they listen to anybody? Clearly not the blinkers are firmly fixed, tory ideology. Consultants and Doctors evidence dismissed.
It is going to get worse before it gets better, God help those poor souls in the firing line of these dictators.
Yes I’m one of those poor soles I have been diagnosed with vascular dementia and depression and angsity attacks and muscular problems. so what the he’ll do I look forward to absolutely nothing at all so why bother I wish I was dead

Stephen, I am very sorry to hear of your troubles – it must be extremely worrying for you. Please contact your local branch of the Alzheimers’ Society – they offer help and support for all kinds of dementia, not just Alzheimers. My uncle has vascular dementia and I won’t lie to you, it’s not easy for him – but he still enjoys life and takes part in a lot of local activities organised for people with the same kind of problem. I hope you get some help to work your way through this. Good luck. x
Sadly, that is what they want you to feel. Henry Kissinger described anyone not being productive as ‘a useless eater’. But we’re not. We’re amazing and creative and as Mike says, things are going to get a lot better.
There are huge resources on the internet for helping you take back and improve your health. It can be something like meditation but it has to work for you. I find Louse Hay’s affirmations and meditations help me through the dark times we all have.
And being grateful for what we do have brings more of that good into our lives.

I cannot afford to run my central heating, so have 5 layers of clothing on;
How many people will freeze to death in there Homes or Living Rough this Winter as a direct result of David Cameron & his rich Gang members.
Thank u guys for your replies yes it is very hard for me at the moment and my family I do get some help from my nhs nurse .she is absolutely fantastic with me I have to have council in by phone for an hour I thought it was going to be one on one but no thay say thay cannot come to see me .I keep falling over GP says it’s because of my vascular dementia not good.
