Interesting. I wonder if this is why I was phoned up (while I was still working at a big regional daily newspaper) and warned that there would be an attempt to kill Ferry (Jr)? The threat came to nothing but I wondered why it had been made. I’m not sure the dates tie up but it seems logical.

No- it wasn’t this incident. Clearly there were people around who wanted rid of him before he committed any – or was alleged to have committed any – crime.
