This is short and nasty, courtesy of Refuted:
Hansard: Jobseeker’s Allowance (Sanctions) “Dr David Webster of Glasgow university, the leading academic authority on benefit sanctions, estimates that the amount of benefit withheld in sanctions is now running at £300 million per year” http://www.publications.parliament.uk/pa/cm201415/cmhansrd/cm141218/debtext/141218-0004.htm#141218-0004.htm_spnew3
What a shame that it seems to be mostly from docking the benefit of people who went to job interviews rather than Job Centre interviews, or who were five minutes late for an appointment, or who had been deliberately misled about the time of their appointment, rather than any real wrongdoing.
