The most interesting part of this piece is where Ed Balls defends Labour’s record on the national finances – and he’s right.
Mr Balls told the BBC: “Before 2007 it’s a matter of record we had a low level of national debt but also we had a small deficit. People will now say that small deficit should have been a small surplus. The reality is that would have made a small difference, not a big difference.
