Benefit cuts deaths: Revealed, how Tories are trying to ‘fudge’ figures claiming they’re too ’emotive’ – Mirror Online
The Mirror has done itself proud with this debunking of the latest claims by David Cameron, Iain Duncan Smith and the Government as a whole.
Anybody who believes Tory claims that the full facts about ESA-related deaths will be made available by the government – voluntarily – should read this and change their mind.
Labour MP Marie Rimmer, who raised the scandal at Prime Minister’s Questions, added: “What is needed now from this disclosure is the full picture with information unadulterated.
“The Prime Minister must stick to his word by publishing the data unedited.”

I really cannot see why a simple death rate/1000/annum cannot be applied to all the requested data sets.
As far as I am concerned that is all that is being requested and it is up to the DWP to explain (come up with an excuse) for what we all know are massive differentials from that to be expected for the general working age population.
No, I want the actual number of deaths.
We heard a great deal from the Tories about the Labour Party ” weaponising” the NHS prior to the last election, however it seems to me that is exactly what IDS is trying to do to the DWP…….Just his picture makes my skin crawl,he is a pathetic excuse for a human being.
Well Mike, you know my thoughts on this issue. As you are aware; the Freedom of Information Act is “motive blind” it does not matter what you or anyone else want the information for (or indeed what DWP “think” you want the information for), it is, as far as I’m concerned unlawful for them not to release the figures. Oh they’ll be “emotive” alright, because any decent minded person will be appalled when they finally get to see the number of ill and vulnerable people who have passed away because of this evil, evil government and their even more evil policies. Well done to the Mirror for taking the lead on this and well done to you too Mike for keeping the pressure on and highlighting the issue
Decent people at the dwp the many that was have left im sorry mostly the dreggs left there now doing their masters orders
IDS on the other hand seems to be very detached from these deaths and never shows any sign of anger that is not normal in a sane person
Any normal chief executive of any company would be up in arms on the first death to get to the bottom of who was responsible and to make sure that never happened again and to make it loud and clear that those at the DWP who make bad judgement calls not only will be sacked but will be arrested and face justice before a court in the same way a police office killing someone with a gun has to or a nurse who is clinically negligent in the killing of patients through giving the wrong drugs
Had IDS made that stance in the very beginning back in 2010 the deaths figures today would be a single figures
IDS needs to be watched very carefully with so many deaths at his door’ the DWP says only around 40 deaths which is shocking to even have to admit to that number but we all know only too well the true number of deaths runs into several hundred’s with another 5 years to run
I think its clear mike in that IDS will never publish those figures on the deaths of the sick and disabled that have gone through welfare reform and been found fit for work but died soon after woods
IDS is a law unto himself and for some odd reason has a hold on David Cameron as I’m not sure David Cameron himself would approve of the deaths of the sick and disabled as having had a disabled son himself who tragically died
I know very well, there are bad people in the world but I do not think David Cameron is at that level at this time

…I totally agree with the – wibbelywobbelyoldlady-from like-wise. Secondary school-teacher.
Delighted the Mirror is picking up on this and also thanks to VP for all that has been done to get this out in the open. This issue coupled with the protests of the poor disabled
marching into parliament is all for the common good it’s starting to generate momentum and eventually getting into the press.
IDS is such a low life whatever statistics are revealed will be distorted beyond recognition that’s for sure. One could see the lack of sincerity and evil on his face when questioned in the house. He is totally repulsive, let us all hope that via the efforts of Mike and now various newspapers picking up on this and the petition some good will come of this and show how evil the Tories really are.
For the life of me I don’t know why the UN are not getting involved in this before DC tries to destroy our human rights. Surely they can read between the lines and see the cruelty being dished out by this government and I am aware many are keeping them updated as to what is actually being done to innocent people.
I’m all for the amortised figures being released… but I think it is also important that the unadulterated figures based on exactly the same selection and data sets (adjusted by the individual periods) is also released for genuine comparisons.
If the selection and data sets are on the same collected raw data for each year then while they may show differing numbers the variances should be easy to track so an increase, seemingly bad/worse, might be down to a corresponding number of additional case load figures increase which would mean its actually no “statistical” change… I think the DWP would be able to refute any such misinterpretation of the figures (although IDS is guilty of using the same kind of lies and distortions which gain traction long before they can be refuted)…
Where I think the real problem lies is that IDS/the DWP have already crunched the figures and no matter how hard they try to come up with reasons before the data release that mitigate any changes the results are damning, where the numbers should reduce (e.g. due to case load reduction) they do not, and where they should increase (due to allowable statistical variances) they again increase by significantly more than they should.
Another interesting point that I think has gone unnoticed, by myself included, is the response by “the DWP spokesperson” (who lets face it is actually IDS’s mouthpiece by proxy) when they have often said (I can’t remember the exact words) “People on xx are often seriously ill, so nothing should be read into the figures.” What is wrong with this parroted statement is the fact that these figures are all about people kicked off benefits/found “fit for work” who died shortly after… the two issues are mutually exclusive, the DWP spokesperson is talking about people _still_on_ the benefit who, quite rightly, would have a higher likelihood of death due to illness yet the figures already released and the update figures we are requiring is specifically about people _no_longer_ on benefits because the DWP kicked them off.
why do doctors not assess patienys why are they hiding facts and figures why do they have non-qualified doctors making life-threatening decisions ie DWP why are they killing people that are ill or disabled they complain about the death toll in hospitals why not what they are creating why not collect from the rich tax dodgers as they would get much more money by changing the law
Non-qualified doctors aren’t doctors, you know.
