Ministers accused of trying to sneak through new fracking rules

Last Updated: October 27, 2015By

So Amber Rudd lied to the electorate about fracking, just as Cameron did about tax credits.

This is the woman who sat in stony silence while a member of the public vilified the Conservative Government over the tax credits shambles.

If it wasn’t a pointless exercise, This Writer would be calling for her to be scrutinised by the Parliamentary Standards watchdog.

Ministers have been accused of trying to sneak through new rules allowing shale drilling under national parks without a proper parliamentary debate, in a move condemned by Labour and anti-fracking campaigners.

The rules, first proposed in July, would permit drilling underneath protected areas, despite a commitment before the election from Amber Rudd, the energy secretary, to have an outright ban on fracking in national parks, sites of special scientific interest (SSSIs) and areas of outstanding natural beauty.

Instead of a full parliamentary debate, the controversial measures will instead be discussed and voted on by a small committee of MPs on Tuesday. All MPs will get to vote on the regulations at some point next week but will be denied the chance of a debate.

This is disgusting scares me to death, I reside in an AONB with a private water supply, I won’t be responsible for my actions if they come within five miles of me. This evil bunch are nothing but criminals in suits and my God damn taxes are funding their lavish life styles whilst they lie and connive behind closed doors.

I am totally against fracking in National Parks and SSSIs but I wish people wouldn’t concentrate on them so much. OK, I don’t want to see my holiday views blighted by drilling wells and clear-cutting any more than anyone else, but there are far more important issues in places that would not be protected. Far more important would be possible contamination in areas containing the water supplies for swathes of the population.
