Civilians to help police investigate cybercrimes, says Theresa May. Because she won’t have to pay them?

Last Updated: January 20, 2016By

She’s smiling because she thinks she has found a way to increase police effectiveness without having to spend more money. In fact, it’s an open opportunity for widespread corruption [Image: PA].

Does anybody else relish the thought of members of the public, unqualified, with none of the responsibilities or obligations of police officers, carrying out police investigations?

What about the fact that Theresa May’s new plan relies on volunteers – people who won’t receive any payment for the work they carry out with the police?

In those circumstances, what’s to stop any of these unpaid ‘volunteers’ from seeking a little extra remuneration through the use of the private information to which they will be provided access, if May’s Snooper’s Charter finally gets the Royal Assent?

This is an open invitation for people to take part in cybercrime, not help stop it.

New civilian recruits will help police solve cybercrime under a expansion of the role of volunteers, due to be unveiled by the home secretary.

Mrs May’s proposals are set to include a whole raft of measures to give more power to support staff and volunteers.

Forces will be able to identify volunteers who specialise in accountancy or computing for cyber and finance inquiries, she said.

She was “committed to finishing the job of police reform”, she added.

It seems this ‘reform’ won’t be complete until May has got rid of paid police altogether.

Civilians spying and reporting back to the State! Where have we seen that before? If I recall history correctly, this led to widespread paranoia and mistrust in those dictatorships who deployed this weapon against its civilian populations.

This takes the strategy of divide and conquer to a new level.

How Are they getting away with all this psyops activity directed at our own people?

Get volunteers , bring in G4S (police wannabees) and can do away with the police altogether.
Reduce the bill considerably for policing and May’s husband will earn a nice tidy sum.

Neither she nor her husband have anything to do with G4S (according to the company).

The Snooper’s Charter is unworkable fiction, it’s about as practical as the tech behind UC is. These people have not the faintest idea of what they’re talking about. Ignore them.

Maybe you are right about the Snoopers Charter, perhaps this too is just part of their home grown ‘terror’ plan.

Create fear and belief that you are not free and being spied on constantly and people will often behave as if the Falshood were True.

They are throwing so much ‘Shock and Awe’ at the country at the moment, they must be up to something real big behind the scenes.

All this could just be destraction tactics.

its ill thought through, it may be a distraction to focus people on a desired mode of thinking. Tories always have an inner agenda never disclosed until its too late to oppose.
G4S as volunteers wont happen but as paid for by the tax payer it means dividends are more available to Theresa May’s husband as a shareholder.
This enables the company to grow, and TM to derive benefit from this business arrangement.
How many tories share TMs position and are voting on this policy??? there may also be rightwing blairites who will gain. we all know they are closet tories and will support cronies who resigned recently. Is this their payoff for their public resignations designed to create problems for the opposition party and Corbyn????

Yet again: The story that Theresa May’s husband has shares in G4S is not true, according to the company.
I have been unable to find evidence to support the theory so I have no choice but to point this out.
