Tory MP forced back to live with parents by high house prices – he claims

William Wragg: His own party’s policies appear to have driven him back to living with his parents {Image: Conservative party/PA].

Some might call this poetic justice.

Conservative Party policies have created a shortage of affordable housing – and now a Conservative MP appears to be suffering because of it.

William Wragg says he can’t afford to buy a house. But is he just saying that? His weekly take-home pay is more than £800 a week, which strikes This Writer as being enough to service most mortgages.

Is it just that he wants a mansion like his Parliamentary friends Dave and George and Boris and Lord Fraud and so on?

A Conservative MP earning £74,000 a year says he has been forced to move back in with his parents because he can’t afford to buy a house.
William Wragg, 28, who earns three times the national average wage as MP for Hazel Grove, near Stockport, Greater Manchester, said he had become part of the so-called “boomerang generation” while he saves for a deposit.

This is despite self-contained one-bedroom flats being available in his constituency for rent at as little as £110 a week – just over an eighth of Wragg’s weekly take-home pay. He is also entitled to House of Commons expenses to cover the rent of a London flat.

Wragg told ITV’s The Granada Debate that although he was “paid extremely well” he had to move back home with his parents in the north-west or face being trapped in a rented flat.

Just wait a moment, the Tory Vaunted economic the Miracle they engendered, as they claim, is ripping itself apart upon the thin hot air it was supposedly built upon, soon the Big Boys (real Labour) not the floozy Blair and Brown ones, will have to step in and pick up the pieces.

You know, since the first Davos beano that Caligula Cameroon and Gardy Loo Gideon attended, they were laughed at and ignored, it ending up with Gardy Loo Gideon scuttling around the room trying to join in any conversation whatsoever…not even the Waiters were interested.
As predicted, soon we will have plenty of Bankrupt properties being offered at knockdown rates, most of them would be better knocked down anyway especially those grotesque City Skyscrapers built by our TAX money.

So, Mr. Wragg, if you wanna live in a Palace fitting for a Fat overpaid, useless Tory….as Bob Hope said about the British weather….wait a minute.

you need a income of £75000 a year to secure a loan of £300’000 so if he avoids London he should be able to manage it

having said that a bank would not give him a mortgage as his job is classed as insecure as a mp and he would have to provide professional qualifications as a fall back like lawyer etc to secure that type of loan

this is what i believe to be accurate at this time of writing. a genuine loan today is only advanced to those that have on paper a better then average chance of paying the loan back within the 25 year time frame on a scale of of 3 times a single salary and 4 times a joint salary plus a 10 percent deposit

Well if he can’t, the man on the street has no chance and those on minimum wage would love to afford to rent!

Are we supposed to feel sorry for this dishonest and corrupt cretin? Be interesting to see what expenses he claims for living with mummy and daddy. Pity someone doesn’t wrap a boomerang round his neck.

Typical tory parasite living off his parents instead of using his own money, mind you he probably claims his living expenses for his housing as well.

He can’t buy a property because he lacks a deposit. His salary is not the issue.fortunately we have said goodbye to the days of 100% mortgages.

His salary IS the issue – how do you think most people pay for their deposit? They save up for it! With £74,000 a year, this man is in a unique position, far ahead of the rest of us.

      • hayfords February 11, 2016 at 7:11 pm - Reply

He has only been an MP for a short while and hasn’t had the time to save for a deposit. Once he has the deposit, his salary will quite sufficient.

          Oh, poor baby.
What, you mean the simple fact that he is an MP and has a guaranteed total salary of £370,000 over five years isn’t enough security for his mortgage?
