Thousands of ‘Child Refugees’ to Britain Deported to Afghanistan and Iraq | Global Research
Is it a good thing that Johnny Foreigner is being sent packing?
Or is it cause for deep concern that young people are being sent back to countries that are still highly unstable, where they have no friends or known family relationships?
And what about the fact that a government minister misled Parliament by understating the number of deportations by 250 per cent?
Thousands of young people who sought refuge in Britain as unaccompanied child asylum seekers have since been deported to war torn countries that are in part controlled by Islamic State, the Taliban or other repressive regimes, a Home Office minister has admitted.
James Brokenshire said that over the past nine years 2,748 young people – many of whom had spent formative years in the UK, forging friendships and going to school – had been returned to the likes of Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran, Libya and Syria.
The bulk – some 2,018 – have concerned Afghanistan, but an investigation has found that 60 young people have also been deported to Iraq since 2014, the year so-called Islamic State began its brutal regime in swathes of the country.
The findings, which were triggered by questions from the Bureau of Investigative Journalism and Labour MP Louise Haigh, raise serious concerns about what happens to child asylum seekers when they turn 18, and at a time when Britain is being urged to help thousands of orphaned child refugees from Syria.
The figures were supplied by Brokenshire this week when he was also forced to apologise for previously providing the Commons with inaccurate numbers in November that understated the scale of deportations by 250%.
The error was spotted by the Bureau of Investigative Journalism.

Open and transparent government? More like think of a low number most who will read it are just plebs and MPs so no one will know or question what we produce. These lame brain civil servants need seeking out and sacked for such a serious offence however that will never happen and they will be promoted for their ingenius thinking. Nazi state is here and working well. A robust law holding civil servants to account along with their leadership when false and misleading statements are produced that mislead Government and the Public.
Mike, a new row is escalating in Sweden regarding the discovery that thousands of young “adult” immigrants” are being counted as children in order to disarm growing public anger at the huge increase in crime created by these faux refugees from Tunisia etc. The census of immigrants to date is that the overwhelming majority of this huge influx is Male (92%). Nothing normal about any of this.

“The Localism Act 2011 is an Act of Parliament that changes the powers of local government in England. The aim of the act is to facilitate the devolution of decision-making powers from central government control to individuals and communities”
Apart from the fact that there is still no evidence that the Localism Act has “facilitated the devolution of decision-making powers from central government control to individuals and communities”, its main requirement of local authorities was to ensure much greater “openness and transparency” in the decisions and actions of local councils.
In the spirit of “setting a good example”, why doesn’t that requirement, let alone “honesty”, apply to Westminster?
