‘I wish I could sue the Prime Minister’ says London cleric Suliman Gani
Suliman Gani was accused in Parliament by David Cameron of being a supporter of Islamic State.
Speaking to ITV News London, Mr Gani strongly denied the allegation but accepted he is unable to launch a libel case because of rules which safeguard MPs’ freedom of speech.
On Islamic State, Suliman Gani added:

Actually you’ve just got to hope that Cameron attends one of those posh dinners at some point, gets a little bit drunk, forgets what he’s saying, and comes out with the same thing! And you’ve also got to hope that someones videoing it! Would that stand up in court Mike? :)
Why should ‘they’ (MP’s) get away with this when ‘we’ (citizens) would be charged with racial/religious incitement and would be able to be sued by the victim!
No one should be able to damage the reputation of anyone without proof!
He must now either furnish that proof to the police or resign!

Should sue him in Scotland for abuse of public office, as it’s clear that Hameron abused his parliamentary privilege to make this vile slander.

Defamation of character is both a criminal & civil offence.
It can be. But defamation only becomes a criminal offence if it is likely to lead to criminal offences being committed.

I was unaware of such a rule. If this extends beyond the liberty afforded every British subject, then it is, by it’s nature and it’s patent openness to abuse, abhorrent and undemocratic. As this repugnant, right dishonourable gentleman has shown.
