Trump to end support for Syrian rebels – to fight IS and shore up relations with Russia

I know it’s an unpopular thought, but what if Donald Trump has the right idea?

Russian President Vladimir Putin has said he has negotiated a deal with President Assad of Syria that involves a fully democratic election, after all.

So, if Trump mends America’s bridges with Russia, and they jointly hammer the fake-Muslim fanatics, it’s possible – just remotely possible – that everyone will get what they want?

That’s good business. Right?

President-elect Donald Trump has reaffirmed his campaign trail position that assisting the Syrian government in fighting Isis should be the US’ main objective in Syria, despite appeals from rebels for continued help in their fight against President Bashar al-Assad.

“I’ve had an opposite view of many people regarding Syria. My attitude was you’re fighting Syria, Syria is fighting Isis, and you have to get rid of Isis,” he said in a wide-ranging interview with the Wall Street Journal on Friday.

Mr Trump has stated that while he “did not like [Mr Assad] at all”, shoring up his regime is the best way to stem the extremism that has flourished in the chaos of the civil war and threatens the US.

He has also been emphatic about mending ties with Russia, Syria’s long-standing ally and military backer in the conflict.

As much as I loathe Trump and what her stands for. I would agree that this would be the right way to end the appalling war in Syria and to mend relations with Russia, which should never have deteriorated anyway. A real embarrassment to May and her cohorts who, only a week or so were talking about being ready for war with Russia.

I don’t like Trump at all however I applaud his aims. Hopefully we can begin to turn back the Doomsday Clock from its current perilous position.

It’s time somebody took the initiative to stop US aggression against unarmed civilians – if Trump can achieve that, the whole world can breathe a little easier.

So what if he has elections after removing all the opposition or enought that they don’t even matter he will be elected by his tribe again. The displaced people won’t go home because he is still in charge and you have total ethnic cleansing. That was prevented in the balkans with the UN but allowed here, I fail to see the benefits for both the people who don’t support him and the world if this plan goes ahead!

Who says he’ll have elections after removing all the opposition?
Who says he’ll enact “total ethnic cleansing”?
You’re complaining that we only have Putin’s word for it that democratic elections will happen, but we only have your word on these claims.

I like trump. he is giving people another perspective on the way the world might work. at last we have a business man looking at a global view. and not career pollution. he has good ideas and bad ones but who doesn’t.
hilariity clinton said she wanted to attack Iran.i am so thankful that will now not happen.because the backlash would have been horrendous, lets hope trump does get the chance to investigate her

i am pagan in my beliefs. nothing to do do with the drum bangers or none of the others. fact we live on a small planet that already has more people than it can support. either we work together or die. i do understand Islam but what do you hope to achieve when there is nothing left. this planet is tiny. it has no room anymore for big ideas. it does not and will not cater for any mentality that thinks they can rule it because its only a little rock in space.
we all have to live here. no one can rule here we have already ripped the heart out of it. please give some thought to your home. it don’t care what religion you are nor nothing we only have this tiny space to make it work. give up on that and we as a race are screwed
