It’s as though the Conservatives wanted to hinder police investigations, isn’t it?

So much for the party of law and order!

The government will damage British justice if it inflicts further cuts on forensic science, the official regulator has said.

Dr Gillian Tully warned in her annual report that financial pressures were compromising quality, including potentially in serious criminal cases involving murder and sexual assault.

Techniques such as DNA analysis and hi-tech examination of samples underpin the criminal justice system and are vital to proving guilt and innocence in the courts.

The government abolished the Forensic Science Service in 2012, which was the main provider to the police, and the system has been beset by problems.

Tories only support law & order when it directly benefits them.

They prefer to *fix* that problem by denying defence lawyers to the poor.

I think I would first cut back on all remaining expensive timewasting quangos that survived the very luke warm Quango cull the Cons promised but never delivered on. These unelected cash cows of nonsense are still just cosy easy jobs for their team players. I’m sure there are still many time waster Quangos that have not been touched that could be scrapped of much less value that this important and developing detection facility that is now clearing up old long cold cases. Hopefully there is not another agenda lurking here that is designed to prevent the collars of a few more elites being felt for their past misdeeds.
