Ministers for porn: You’d think they’d know better after Damian Green
Otherwise, I’ll be advocating that he takes the Damian Green option.
Mr Green, as we all know, was told to resign as First Secretary of State after he was found to have lied about pornography that had been discovered on a computer in his office some years ago.
On Tuesday, Mr Barwell – Theresa May’s chief of staff, let’s not forget – told the world he was enjoying Twitter-based pornography… by replying to it.
Many people saw an opportunity for fun. Here’s a quick example:

Apparently a spokesperson for 10 Downing Street has said the tweet was on Mr Barwell’s Twitter timeline and he responded to it in error.
That’s a pretty big mistake! Are we sure he can be trusted with helping to run the country? I mean, does he really have a firm grip on the situation?
On the other hand (sorry!) we have Lord Ashcroft, the pollster who used to be deputy chairman of the Conservative Party and was last seen running away from questions about tax avoidance that had been raised by the so-called ‘paradise papers’.
It seems he’s been coping with the embarrassment by… well… creating more embarrassment for himself. On Tuesday he tweeted this:
Everybody’s good friends at Russia Today described the image as that of a young lady “showing her ‘Brextits’ to the world,” adding, “Better out than in, we always say.”
Again, commentators have taken this as a cue for hilarity:

A commenter on Facebook pointed out: “When will they ever learn, especially in a week that they insult Oxfam for going with prostitutes, when he is ogling … girls on porn shows, not withstanding a few weeks since young ladies were used for escorts for a charity do… seriously not forgetting Damien Green, and the various other Tories who now seem to be part of the sexual deviants’ party.”
