Central London rally demands, ‘No more deaths on our streets.’ Media fail to report it
Did the mainstream media cover this at all?
Yesterday, a group of organisations dealing with homelessness staged a rally in central London to raise awareness that people are dying because they don’t have homes – a disgraceful situation in one of the world’s richest nations.
The event was organised by Streets Kitchen, March With The Homeless and Homeless Outreach Central, and was supported by other groups including our old friends, Disabled People Against Cuts.
“We will gather outside Downing Street to say enough is enough,” stated DPAC’s website. “Let’s get together and organise how we can prevent any further needless deaths.
“Please bring along sleeping bags and other essential supplies that will keep people alive and we will also distribute these that day to those that may need them across London.
“Bring noise, banners, smiles, anger and your friends.”
Here’s a video of the rally:
DPAC tweeted this short interview with a homeless person to illustrate the issue:

It is to be hoped that warmer weather will bring a fall in fatalities – but we need to see a warmer attitude from our elected authorities.
And that isn’t going to happen if the right-wing media suppress public knowledge of the deaths.
