Disability Income Guarantee abolished under Universal Credit rules
This is, of course, more evidence to support my claim that the Conservative government is carrying out a covert genocide of the sick and disabled, by depriving them of the money they need to survive.
Many of us have said previously that the government’s ‘flagship’ policy, Universal Credit (UC), is about implementing further cuts to welfare support by stealth. However, the loss of income to disabled people through hidden cuts has been under-reported.
Disabled people who qualified for the support component of income-related Employment and Support Allowance and (ESA) are also eligible for a disability premium. This is also called the Disability Income Guarantee. However, as a result of the abolition of both the severe disability premium (SDP) and enhanced disability premium (EDP) under UC rules, according to the disability charity, Scope, the cut to the disability income guarantee will see disabled people lose as much as £395 a month.
This exceptionally cruel cut will affect a social group that have already been hit the hardest by austerity. It’s difficult to imagine that these further targeted withdrawals of support are not deliberate.
UC is on course to deliver only marginal taxpayer savings despite driving through the huge cuts in benefit payments to many claimants, according to the Office for Budget Responsibility (OBR).

Won’t be happy until they kill us all off.shameful politics that target the old, sick, disabled, homeless; low income families;ex soldiers.I am beyond disgusted
The govt ministers really did believe most people who were claiming disability benefits were not really disabled, you know fake shirkers as per their spin. I think it’s come as a shock to find out yep the vast majority are indeed disabled and entitled to help, hence the removal of the premiums for anyone unfortunate enough to move into or start claiming disability benefits in a UC live area, those already receiving premiums with receive transition payments when they migrate to UC next year, that’s another fun fact that will come out, because of UC rules those getting transitional payments will never get a benefit rise until UC matches the amount they already receive which will take an awful long time years!
