Dodgy Russian money, dodgy British banks and a dodgy British government

I thought the situation was bad enough when I read this:

British bank HSBC has been accused of passing millions of pounds of transactions in a global money-laundering scandal with roots in Russian organised crime.

According to a report in The Guardian, it processed $545.3m (£437.3m) out of Russia between 2010 and 2014, mostly through its Hong Kong branch.

Other UK-based banks are also implicated, including Barclays, Lloyds and Royal Bank of Scotland, which, through NatWest and Coutts, is thought to have moved a total of $147m (£118m).

The Guardian article made the numbers even worse:

Britain’s high street banks processed nearly $740m from a vast money-laundering operation run by Russian criminals with links to the Russian government and the KGB, the Guardian can reveal.

Documents seen by the Guardian show that at least $20bn appears to have been moved out of Russia during a four-year period between 2010 and 2014. The true figure could be $80bn, detectives believe.

They estimate a group of about 500 people were involved. These include oligarchs, Moscow bankers, and figures working for or connected to the FSB, the successor spy agency to the KGB.

Now it gets twisted. The following is a Twitter thread by Mark McGowan (the Artist Taxi Driver):

At least on the face of it, it seems Mrs May was handing out visas “like sweets” to Russian oligarchs who then laundered $740 million in (possibly ill-gotten) gains through British banks – at least one of whom has a bad reputation.

And now Mrs May is accusing the Russians – with very little evidence – of what is effectively an act of war on UK soil.

What the blazes is she doing, and does she seriously think she’ll come out smelling of roses at the end of it?

The British Economy has been based on the Black Economy for a long time. That is the only thing underpinning the UK economy

Take it away and the whole country will collapse

Because of the deals and financial services to Russia and rest of world – see the colour of their money, ask no questions- UK has been in middle of laundering and managing and moving Russian and other assets for a long time, decades so dont just blame it on Tories.

All that Peace Envoy and Visiting Africa for Charity Crap

The financial sector has been so cocky of what it is making through the Black Economy that we have no other economy and the white economy and grey economy has been ignored and does not exist and is not strong enough to secure and uphold the country

So problem is, if you go after the banks, financial sector Black Economy the actual country’s economy will disintegrate

Added to this Goldman Sachs is an unsecure and unsafe bank and structure

Could and should have gone ages ago

But if the Goldman Sachs global structure goes then we are stuck as the western global structure goes.

So we are a bit in the s**t and only the bad guys are holding it up and holding it together.

Get rid of them and the whole thing crumbles. then we will be carrion to the rest of the world

Mind you, that might be the plan, exposing corrupt UK city, exposing and leaking off shore financial management might be about bringing UK country and economy down by taking away its repute and confidence

Be careful what you hope for.

and a blind eye will be turned as it is a big basis of our economy.

These Russian oligarchs have robbed their own people. They are the enemy of Russia and as such their money was warmly welcomed. Drugs, Guns and Money is how the UK rolls these days and Government is now the biggest racket going.
