Are we seeing another push to legalise this cruel blood sport?

Last Updated: December 27, 2023By Tags: , , ,

Fox hunting has been banned in the UK since 2004.

It’s pathetic. Can’t we go just one year without some posh gits in fancy dress demanding the opportunity to murder defenceless animals in their homes?*

This year, members of the Boxing Day hunting mob are crowing that they’ve got enormous turnouts of people in support of them.

But how can we be sure of these huge turnouts when they’re apparently on Ministry of Defence land that other people aren’t allowed to enter?

Check out the story:

The Ministry of Defence (MoD) has been accused of “turning a blind eye” to illegal fox hunting after anti-hunt observers were banned from thousands of acres of military land across England.

Dan Norris, chairman of the League Against Cruel Sports, told i that the legal Boxing Day hunts on MoD land were merely “a smokescreen for the illegal hunting”.

He added that the Government was “facilitating illegal hunting” on the publicly owned land in counties including Cheshire, Dorset, Gloucestershire, and Yorkshire.

It has been illegal to hunt foxes in England and Wales since 2004 but hunts are permitted to simulate a chase by following a pre-laid scent, which is known as trail hunting.

Mr Norris, who is also the Mayor of the West of England, has called on Defence Secretary Grant Shapps to urgently reverse a decision last year to prevent the anti-hunt group from attending events on the military estate before riders gather with their hounds on Boxing Day.

He told i: “It’s absolutely certain that illegal hunting activity will take place on MoD land unless hunt monitors are there to observe it and deter it.”

So we don’t know whether loads of people turned up or not. Or are these organisations claiming huge turnouts in public places? Have you seen them?

This doesn’t look like much. And I like the comment by Roger Moore that somebody appended to it:

Still, perhaps it’s worth doing another opinion poll?

And if we really feel strongly about it, how about signing a petition?

After all, if Scotland can do it, why can’t we?

*This could explain why posh gits in suits at the Department for Work and Pensions keep insisting they should have the opportunity to murder human beings in their homes. But they use bureaucracy, which is a far more subtle and effective way of killing.
