It’s the REAL Mr Bates vs the Post Office – at the official inquiry today
The real Alan Bates resumed his war against Post Office Limited at the official inquiry into the Horizon IT scandal today.
He was giving evidence at Phase 5 of the inquiry, which is set to have six phases altogether. Here’s a news report about it:
Giving evidence, he said the Post Office “were after me, one way or another”:
Sadly, the inquiry represents yet another delay for sub-postmasters who have been waiting more than two decades for compensation after being wrongly accused of stealing money.
The last phase of the inquiry will not be concluded until July 26 – and then there will be an unlimited wait for a verdict.
And even then there is no guarantee that whichever government is in office by then will agree to start making payouts.
What a farce. But it has always been the same; the super-rich only have to whistle and they get whatever they want – but the rest of us are made to wait for a justice that often never comes.
Remember: people have died without compensation because Post Office Limited – and the Tory government – deliberately delayed paying them.
