Martin Lewis clashed with Lisa Nandy over winter fuel payments

Money Saving Expert Martin Lewis clashed with Lisa Nandy over winter fuel payments for pensioners, after it was revealed that four out of every five pensioners who are in relative poverty or just above the poverty line will lose the vital cash lifeline.

Age UK has released research showing that 2.46 million people – including 1.1 million disabled people – who will lose the payment live in relative poverty or just above the poverty line, and will struggle to heat their homes as a result of Labour’s cut.

Money Saving Expert Martin Lewis clashed with Culture Secretary Lisa Nandy over this on ITV’s Good Morning Britain – and she did not acquit herself well:

Do you get the impression that Labour doesn’t care?
