Liz Truss is RIGHT to take legal action against Keir Starmer

This is actually quite funny because Liz Truss is right to take legal action against Keir Starmer over his insistence on claiming that she crashed the UK economy.

Her timing is also right on-the-button, coming when the economy finds itself in a startlingly similar situation to the one into which she and her Chancellor Kwasi Kwarteng put it: spiralling borrowing costs and the pound plummeting in value.

In fairness, she created her own problems, whereas Reeves was reacting to those created by other people (including Truss) – and the effect of what Truss did was worse than Reeves’s Budget (so far). Nevertheless, not true is not true.

And Truss didn’t crash the economy in September 2022 – because it is impossible to crash the UK economy. We have our own money-issuing bank that can always bail us out of trouble and is in fact under orders to do so if necessary.

She caused volatility in the markets that was resolved shortly after she left office. Contrast that with Rachel Reeves, who is seeing market volatility stirred up by hostility to her policies and is rightly ignoring it on the understanding that it will go away.

Some might say that both Truss and Reeves have been the architects of their own misfortune, but it is possible to suggest that Reeves was at least trying to solve problems created by other people, while Truss was too stupid to know what she was doing.

In any case, Starmer needs to shut up about her crashing the economy, for fear of proving that he is the economic illiterate!
