Reform candidate in the Runcorn by-election seems confused about party loyalty
The Reform candidate in the Runcorn and Halsby by-election seems confused about party loyalty.
Sarah Pochin has been a Conservative and Independent representative before joining Reform UK.
Here‘s the BBC:
Sarah Pochin was a councillor for the Cheshire East authority from 2015 until 2023, and was mayor of the council from 2021 to 2022.
She was first elected as a councillor for the Conservatives, before being expelled by the party in 2020, after a row over her nomination as mayor.
She later joined the authority’s Independent group, but was suspended for rejoining the national Conservative party, ahead of the leadership election.
It comes across as opportunism; this candidate seems to go wherever she thinks she can get ahead.
I think she needs to come forward and explain exactly what she stands for, and why her past loyalties seem to have been negotiable.
Where are her principles? What does she stand for? Does she represent anything apart from herself?
And is this the kind of politician that Reform UK really wants representing it?

Yes, but I suppose we could also ask questions about the Labour candidate too:
