If you’ve been following Vox Political this past month, you’ll know it’s been a storm of stories, scandal, and (sadly) government spin.
I’ve published 77 articles (so far) in July alone — covering everything from Labour’s betrayal of disabled people to the creeping privatisation of the NHS to the criminalisation of peaceful protest.
Some of the highlights include:
-
🔥 The government’s disgraceful response to my open letter on disability benefit cuts — a boilerplate brush-off that ignored 100,000+ deaths and years of damning evidence.
-
🏥 Labour’s 10-year “health plan” — sold as reform but actually a back door for profit-hungry private providers and tech firms.
-
🛑 Palestine Action branded as terrorists — not for harming anyone, but for throwing paint at weapons factories.
-
⚖️ Respect Orders — new laws that could criminalise dissent online with barely a whisper of public scrutiny.
That’s not even including fact-checks, breaking news, policy breakdowns, protest coverage, or amplifying the voices of disabled people, carers, and frontline campaigners.
But here’s the truth: this kind of journalism isn’t free.
No corporate ads.
No billionaire donors.
No paywalls.
Vox Political runs entirely on reader support.
And to stay online — just to cover basic running costs — I need to raise around £1,000 per calendar month.
That covers:
-
Hosting and software
-
Equipment upkeep
-
Time spent writing, researching, and editing
-
Expenses for public records, media licenses, etc.
And it should be easy because I have many thousands of followers, if the number of them on social media platforms is any yardstick. Sadly it isn’t, because I’m probably being kept from getting through to many of them.
You see, this isn’t about getting rich.
It’s about keeping independent journalism alive.
Here’s how you can help — right now:
Make a one-off or monthly donation: https://ko-fi.com/voxpolitical
Stripe is now available — so you can use a card, no PayPal needed.
Now, I’ve heard from some readers who say they simply can’t afford even £2 a month — and I get that. We’re all feeling the pinch.
If that’s you, don’t worry. Sharing the work, spreading the word, or just being part of the community still matters.
But there are also plenty of people who could chip in — and don’t.
They’ll pay £2 for a newspaper owned by billionaires.
They’ll pay £13 a month for a TV licence to hear filtered headlines from the establishment.
But somehow, this work — independent, critical, and unfiltered — is expected to be free.
Here’s the thing:
Vox Political is pay-as-you-feel.
There’s no charge.
No locked content.
No guilt trips.
But if you do feel it’s worth reading, I hope you’ll also feel it’s worth supporting.
If too many people take without giving back, it’s simple:
This work may not be here when they need it most.
If every regular reader gave just £2, this site would be secure for months.
If you value real journalism — unbought, unbossed, and unapologetically on your side — then please help me keep going.
