UKIP distribute ‘fake Jeremy Corbyn leaflet’ in Oldham by-election
Forgive This Writer if this is a mistake, but isn’t this behaviour actually against the law?
The gloves are off in the West Oldham by-election if UKIP’s latest leaflet is anything to go by.
The kippers are distributing material mocked up to look like a Labour Party flyer— with a list of Labour policies which are, errrrrr, not actually Labour policies:
- “Axing our armed forces”
- “Abolishing the monarchy”
- “Hand over the Falklands to Argentina”
While the legal small print at the bottom identifies the leaflet as the work of the UKIP election agent— itdoes not mention the party by name.
This comes after UKIP complained loudly that presenting Nigel Farage’s views as UKIP policy was misleading.

Disgraceful conduct worthy of Tories,by the wannabes
the lib dems and labour are the tory wannabes
You think Labour under Corbyn wants to be like the Tory Party? Please.
If it’s against the law, Labour in Oldham have a simple solution – call at the Police Station and complain. Please keep me updated on the progress of the complaint. (BTW Pot, kettle, black comes to mind. Was it Gordon Brown’s aides who set the benchmark in this type of behaviour – or was that ‘another’ Labour Party?)
No – they would report it to the returning officer/electoral services at their local council, I think. Those people would then decide what action to take.
Both Labour and Conservatives have distributed literature apparently coming from UKIP, bearing their logo, in the past, so this is certainly not new. Google “Major parties show major panic with fake UKIP leaflets” to see some.
Those leaflets do NOT bear the UKIP logo or profess to have been created by UKIP.
Sure, there are similarities, but it is clear that UKIP is being mocked and there is no attempt to deceive the reader.
The website you mention is clearly sympathetic to UKIP and pushing that party’s propaganda so one is left wondering what your game is.
well it says Labour News, no logo no yellow and labour is the people who work or the activity of work, so it doesn’t mention the Party. I believe that at various times Corbyn has said all of these things.
It’s the Labour Party font, or a close approximation. It’s an election communication labelling itself ‘Labour’. Corbyn has been reported to have said these things but the facts are different. Impersonation of Labour – albeit a bad attempt.
