Scottish government is failing over health and social care
This is not a new criticism, either – failure in seven out of nine NHS targets, worsening over the last five years, is a damning indictment.
The excuse this time is that the report fails to take account of recent investment, but the Auditor General has said current models are unsustainable.
What will be the next excuse?
A lack of leadership and planning is preventing Scotland’s health and social care services changing fast enough, according to a report.
Research for the Auditor General and the Accounts Commission said current ways of working were unsustainable.
Challenges include an ageing population and financial pressures, the report found.
Scottish Labour public services spokesman Dr Richard Simpson said: “The SNP have had nearly a decade in power and a majority in parliament to get this right, but it simply isn’t happening. They are not only failing in seven out of nine NHS targets but that failure has steadily worsened over the last five years.”
The Scottish government said it recognised the new demands and was taking steps to counter them.

I still remember Nicola Sturgeon on stage saying that the NHS should treat all HIV sufferers including the flood from abroad and to do otherwise would be a disgrace. I wonder now, how she will pay for this monumental costly policy she so publicly declared? The whole of the EU needs to share in the cost of treating HIV and should be sharing in the cost of the sufferers treatment, instead of the NHS of England being the centre of excellence, simply because England offers treatment free.
Does England offer free treatment? I thought England charged for prescriptions and this would include drugs to fight HIV.
However, I think you’re referring to a separate issue.
Another of my comments deleted Mike? Why have a blog if you can’t take any opinion different to your own.
Ask yourself: Was this a comment on the subject matter, or was it a personal attack on the owner/writer of the blog?
You know, and I know, it was the latter.
Stick to the subject, please.
If I remember right I merely said that you were obsessively anti-SNP. I don’t see how that can be taken as an attack since you have a whole section of your blog dedicated to that topic.
I may have compared your views to those of the BBC and the MSM. I suppose that could be construed as an attack.
Do you see Conservatives attacking me for being “obsessively” anti-Tory? Of course you don’t. They know that I’m doing my job and pointing out policies and behaviour that are unacceptable. That is all I do with the SNP.
Are you trying to misdirect readers about my page on The Falsehoods of Scottish Nationalists? The title says nothing about the SNP and the page is about nationalists in general and not just the political party.
When you are a Scottish Nationalist and your antagonism is based on a falsehood – as it is here – you can hardly complain about a page highlighting the falsehoods of Scottish Nationalists.
I will not be accepting further correspondence on this matter.
