There was a rumour that certain… elements in the Labour Party were hoping to persuade David Miliband back into Parliament by this route.

They would have parachuted him in and then set him up as the next candidate against Jeremy Corbyn – after Owen Smith’s upcoming failure on September 24.

While This Writer is unsure of Ms Brabin’s qualifications to be a member of Parliament, it seems certain that she would be a better option for British democracy.

Former soap star Tracy Brabin could stand for Labour in the by-election triggered by the death of Jo Cox.

The ex-Coronation Street, EastEnders and Emmerdale actress confirmed to the BBC she was considering putting her name forward to become the Labour candidate.

Mrs Cox, who was MP for Batley and Spen, was shot and stabbed in Birstall, West Yorkshire on 16 June.

The Labour Party said it had not yet begun the selection process.

Being from the constituency is a very good qualification to start with!

Surely someone from inside the CLP would be a better choice than a D list actress.

I’m all for any middle aged woman with local connections being selected to run for the seat. Good luck to her.

Since the seat is safe and uncontested, I’d like to see the two factions of the Labour Party stand against each other.
Obviously that would be against party rules, but they could grant themselves an exception because of the exceptional circumstances.

      It’s not uncontested.

I wasn’t counting the rabid racist rabble party, especially as they’re splitting their vote share with the rabble of rabid racists party…
Do you think the man from UKIP is a serious contender?
Possibly I suppose, but TBH I had not heard he was standing.

If it comes to Tracy Brabin or David Miliband it would have to be Tracy I would like to hear her thoughts

      Miliband’s a better actor.

Hopefully the Milliband is making loads of dosh without any hassle and would turn any MP salary offer down…..unless of course he is attracted to the lucrative life and rewards that the Blair and pals have secured from their time in parliament.
