Brexit minister’s claims branded ‘ridiculous’ by former EU commissioner – because they are
They have three cabinet ministers working on it and none of them can even co-operate with each other, let alone present a co-ordinated plan for the UK’s departure from the EU.
This is just a symptom of a larger malaise.
Brexit Secretary David Davis’ claim the UK will not have a “hard border” with the Republic of Ireland after it leaves the EU are “ridiculous”, according to a former EU commissioner.
On his visit to Northern Ireland, Mr Davis promised there would be no return to the “hard border” between Northern Ireland and the Irish Republic when the UK leaves the EU.
However, former EU commissioner Peter Sutherland has described Mr Davis’ claim there will be no hard trade border as “ridiculous”.
“I am absolutely mystified, not for the first time in this debate, about what is coming out of London,” he said during his visit to Stormont House, The Irish Times reported.

Davis is a nasty piece of work and a man who cannot get along with other nationalities unless he is lording it over them. What the hack have we done to deserve such utter cretins in government?
Daffy Davis parrotting Maggie May’s words. Typical London approach to Ireland’s affairs. Tell them what will happen without proper discussion. Anyone taking bets that there WILL BE a hard border in the end built at our expense? Idiot Tories couldn’t tell a pick from a shovel but end up running the Country using bull**** instead of brains.
Don’t swear on this site, please.
The border between Ulster and Eire was decided by the Irish and British government, with nothing to do with the eu. However as eire will remain a member of the eu there will need to be borders for non Irish citizens travelling between the two nations.
That isn’t the plan.
