Austerity effect hits women ‘twice as hard as it does men’
Not only has the Conservative Government’s new policy of rationing services hit the poor – it has hit poor women harder than men (and disabled poor women hardest of all).
So not only is this rationing a way of harming the most vulnerably, it is also sexist and ablist.
Ask your Tory candidate about it next time there’s an election and see who they blame.
Tax and benefit changes since 2010 have increased equality gap
Women will have shouldered 85% of the burden of the government’s changes to the tax and benefits system by 2020, according to figures published ahead of next week’s autumn statement.

Women are less likely to have been taught the skills needed for living on restricted budgets. Men can often fix the washing machine and repair the crack in the wall whereas some women can’t put a plug on. I’m not being sexist but parents and schools in the 60’s and 70’s did not consider it appropriate to teach girls woodwork or metalwork. Sunday mornings dad would get up early to fix the car while son watched but daughter helped mum with the dinner. When I lost my car after a liar assessed me for PIP I was able to build my on electric vehicle and fix my own shower when it broke, and as much as I am feeling the cuts I can appreciate that having a penis gave me an advantage at surviving this cull. The news that the UN criticism will be ignored at the same time as we become a closed off island again scares the pants off me though. I really can see a nightmare dystopia emerging because we are allowing it. The government has blood on its hands,in the past the people would be prepared to sacrifice some blood to prevent it from running like rivers. All those people killed by the DWP and we do nothing, if those decision makers were tarred and feathered many lives would be saved. I will no doubt be censored and told that we do not condemn violence on this site but in fact peaceful protest has been futile. To take no more action will, give the message that the killing can continue.
“I’m not being sexist but…” Sorry but I think you are.
I don’t believe women are less likely to have been taught the skills needed for living on restricted budgets – in fact I think women are far more likely to have those skills than men. Maybe some women can’t put a plug on – neither can some men. And how many men can put their skills at fixing cars into serving a delicious dinner?
I do still condemn violence, but I understand why you make your comments on the government’s intractability.
